Beta Ships feel way way to floaty
Its as the title says, the ships feel way to floaty in the beta to the point i can barely control my ship in the dock, I was doing fine before hand. And i fly plane in real life. I shouldn't be having this much trouble.

Somehow I doubt being able to fly a plane IRL has any bearing on being able to fly a spaceship in X4 :mhwhappy:

The Concepts do translate fairly well, the big issue is just the floatyness. Like it's way to extreme right now

Yeah.

I hopped into my chimera yesterday, and it was almost uncontrollable.
Just "putting it back in its dock" was a complex task due to this.

EDIT: Thanks regarded one, for the clown - wtf.

I don't think I would agree. I think X4 had an extremely un-spacey amount of drift before and this puts it more in line with its contemporaries. E:D is a very floaty game maneuvering around docks and it has a beautiful flight model.

Perfect yet, no. Uncontrollable, not at all.

I do not share this impression.

Plane in real life flies very differently compared to spaceship. Basically there's no air resistance in space, and in the plane you can't shut down engines, turn around and continue flying in the same direction with your tail now pointing forward. For me the new model aligns with expectations of space flight better than the old one, so I quite like it.

There's a new indicator on the ship - blue circle it points where your ship is actually going with current velocity. It should help quite a bit.

Acceleration/deceleration feels a bit chunky when trying to dock without a docking computer, getting that little arrow just right is hard to do without overshooting slightly, but otherwise I can't really understand what you mean by it being hard to control. Docking various M and S ships with a docking computer it all feels pretty smooth, and I've done my usual coasting around right up against a station, bobbing in and out of nooks and crannies in a small ship, it feels good, never felt like I wasn't in perfect control.

play tuturial to lern dock a ship !

No, its not. Planes fly in atmosphere. Spaceships fly in vacuum. They have to atmoshpere that stops them, or supports them. Its Newtonian physics. You will continue flying in the direction, until u make an effort to compensate that movement by thrusting into opposite direction.

I like it. Yeah it is a lot tougher to control. But you just have to make good use of your boosters. Someone mentioned the Chimera? lol first time I got in that with the new flight mechanics I was all over the place and yeah I had trouble docking. After about 10 minutes I got the feel for it. It's really cool in dogfights. Turning and boosting. As soon as you turn 180 you're going backwards at some speed which is why you should be boosting that pig.

It does need some fine tuning. Katanas just don't seem to stop in time and nearly always ram into their autopilot target. I haven't tried a Cobra yet? I bet that has trouble stopping as well. The Hydra seems fine.
to, two, too, sorry couldn't help it.

It is a split frigate, my favorite at the moment. Controls like a much bigger Chimera. 4 turrets, 3 forward facing guns, cockpit is in front of landing pad. Small cozy cockpit with sharp metal edges and rugged surfaces with occasional pieces of peeling paint on them.

With current inertia, I've noticed now it is quite easy to end up circling around enemies, and "high drag" ships do that more often. This works similar to FPS circle strafe, with turrets and gimbals doing the work bringing the target down. I'm quite happy with the changes. At least now it is necessary to think while flying.

One of my absolute favorite ships in the game. I remember the first time I found the abandoned one and I thought it looked cool enough but once I fixed it up, it was my main ship. Now whenever I 'm building up fleets cobras are always in the mix.

This so much. I was docking my h after i picked it up and it was a real pain in the butt to get it lined up just right to dock.

I tried docking a Sunder with no docking computer and had no issue. Is it on the the highly maneuverable stuff having problems?
Astasia Feb 14 @ 9:41pm
Small ships that accelerate quickly in my experience ya. One tick up on the mousewheel and suddenly I'm too far forward by like half a ship length, two ticks back and suddenly too far back, and then I repeat like 3-4 times until finally getting it right. It's not like I'm slamming into the sides of the dock or anything, it's just ships are bit more jumpy at very small scales. I don't think this is necessarily a problem with ship movement, I think docking probably just needs to be made a little more forgiving. Then again, nobody wants to manual dock anyway and getting a mk2 docking computer is like the very first purchase in the game, so I'm not sure it matters in the end.
