Whew! The Yaki Questline...
*Beware, Possible SPOILERS. You have been warned. *

I usually would just download a Mod to free up the costumes of the Yaki into Argon cos I generally like the added variety. This time I decided to do the quest-ine itself since I'm not using any mods right now for the 7.0 beta.

I started a Custom game, just for the face - nothing else changed. Started in Argon, wandered about did my thing to build up a bit, then decided to focus on the Yaki. All I knew was I needed to go to the Terran part of the Galaxy, which was quite a trek.

Built up my rep with the Terrans which took a while.

Then FINALLY got accepted into the Terran's Special Agency missions.

Then FINALLY started getting close to the Yaki.

Then after some tough fights where I was blown away about 3 times, made it to the actual Yaki.

There was some interesting stuff on the way, but I had NO idea how involved and wiry is the plot to just getting to the Yaki. It's like they're behind a kind of "If you're patient and make it this far, you will be rewarded!" pay wall. lol.

I like the ship that can disguise itself as Xenon. That's nice and does explain how the Yaki manage to stay so isolated and yet not wiped out.

Be aware, at a certain point later in the quest, that ship loses it's ability to disguise... Which is a great shame... And killed me twice before I worked out what's happening (they don't warn you)

But, it is an excellent fighter (my personal choice for best general purpose fighter) and you can get the blueprint for it from the Yaki... And a pretty good medium class too.

You can achieve most of the quest using the stealth mechanic alone... But the very final part of one of the paths will require a fairly decent amount of firepower... Or a whole lot of time an patience. (It's possible, but not recommended to do this with as little as two destroyers, possibly less, but it is slooooow.)

Thanks for the headsup!

Careful with that stealth mechanic - it doesn't fool just the Xenon.

Friendlies like your own engineer. Thankfully, they keep doing their jobs. ;)

The big ship you get for free is more than enough to do the amplifier. but you will have to manual pilot it up there or it will get eaten by K/I over and over. But ones you get it there is less then 10 min to take out.

Just a bit of advice. Never leave the Litigious Rodent undocked. The ai will target it eventually. I lost her once. Never again.

I don't normally do that plot until I have 3 decent fleets and then it's fairly easy. You do need to clear the sectors as well for the Yaki so it pays to wait until you have decent fleets. Their ships are great, but there are suitable alternatives.

Ah. Interesting to know. I have no fleets... so I'll have to leave that part until ready. Thanks for the info.

By the way, the Litigious Rodent won't allow me to choose a co-pilot captain for it. Why is this? Is it a bug or some kind of ingame on purpose quirk of this ship?

Intended for all ships with cloaking ability. Later when ship lost that feature and become regular Moreya you're allowed to handle it as... regular Moreya.

The cloak takes up the crawlspace the crew hide in normally

You made that bit up, didn't you?
No, since I can hire crew fine. In fact she's in her quarters, but for some reason is allergic to piloting the ship! Doesn't make sense to me, but whatever.

The other ship makes more sense, with the AI that chooses you.

A top tip is when you first get the Litigious Rodent and take it to Boso, after that it's a very good idea to jump in that ship with a lot of advanced satellites and go and scout and map Xenon sectors. All of them. You need to be a little bit careful. Not of the Xenon, but the other factions when you cloak. Don't hang around gates lol.
