Claiming Sectors Question.

Hey

So my base of operations is the Watchful Gaze system near the Boron and so far it has my Refinery Station, but I want to at some point claim as my own. But I'm worried doing so would cause me to become a bigger target to enemy attacks.

Can anyone tell me what or if they are any drawbacks to claiming a sector?

If you have good standing with the Boron (the only faction that I've seen so far claiming that sector), they won't attack you. The only source of nuisance should be pirates.

Hey

So far they haven't claimed, but they do have a Defence Platform are the entrance. Pirates are annoying and they do frequently attack that sector.

So other than what you said, I shouldn't have anything to worry about, like Xenon or Kha'ak attacking me a lot more frequently?

That's how a faction claims a sector. As soon as that defense station's admin module finishes building, it's theirs.

As a general rule, yes, but consider the location of the nearest Xenon sectors and how much ground the Argon would have to lose before they reach Watchful Gaze. Also, despite the Kha'ak spawning a hive in Heretic's End, they usually attack mining ships, and even in the rare occasion when they attack stations it's very easy to defend with anti-fighter turrets or a fighter squadron.

Yeah I thought that. I'm gonna get mine done then so I claim it.

I haven't fully explored Heretic's End yet and that's probably where they come from then, cause I was wondering how they can get by the Borons.

So far Argon has been fearing well. I have a trader going around Argon Prime space stocking Refined Metal and Hull Parts so they can build their ships. HAT though may be a problem. Although I'am thinking of buy loads of Laser Turrets and placing them in bulk at the gate entrance to HAT from Xenon space. Just trying to decide if I should buy the MK1 or MK2 since they have a huge damage difference.

Mk2. Not only they deal more damage, but can take more too.

I barely managed to claim Watchful Gaze. The Borons began building their defence platform near the gate and it was a race to finish. There was something like 19 minutes left for my supplies to arrive to begin building, so I manually flew them in to avoid the AI taking too long manoeuvring the ship around. My defence platform was completed only a few minutes before theirs, and the sector was mine.

I then decided to take Heretics End as well since it was also not claimed. I need to pay closer attention to the news though, apparently it's frowned upon when you take that. Not sure if there are future consequences.

You can claim sectors from factions without having to go to war or completely destroying their defense stations. Literally just tested this a few minutes ago because the Paranid claimed a sector I wanted and I had 30 relationship with them.

The Administration module is what allows factions to claim, so I just blew up that module on both defense stations and now the sector belongs to me and my rep only dropped to 29. Going get that relationship back up and then claim the other sectors I want. I might just take over the galaxy "peacefully"

I did it but they took away 5 relationship points for each module xD and they had 4 in the sector I coveted

I think the higher rep levels take more xp to level up and it deducts a certain amount of relationship xp when you destroy the module so maybe its best to do when youre max rep.
