Of course, in early game, you may not find too many Terran pilots or even pilots who are willing to talk with you if your faction rep is less than -10. To solve the latter problem, I suggest clearing out criminal traffic around unfriendly stations to build your rep with their faction. After the stations allow you to dock, their pilots will give you directions. When combined with visually looking for jump gates in your cockpit, you should be able to work your way back to the Sol System.
