Trader Stuck in a trade for almost an hour
I had one of my traders trade some hull parts to my station build storage. he started with 1300 and he has ONE part left in his inventory and he's been trying to trade it for almost an hour. he has drones but is just stuck. i cant cancel the order or remove the captain or anything. he's also blocking the other traders from delivering so my station is stuck too. any ideas?

Leave system and it will fix it.

yeah, tried that. left the system, reloaded a save, restarted the game, none of it worked. ended up having to blow him to hell and shove the corpse away from the dock.

You can always take manual control of a freighter, even if it is assigned to a station, to sort this kind of situation out.

If you go to the behaviour tab you can delete the ship's current order and then issue a new manual order to transfer the hull part to your station. After it's done that it will automatically return to normal duties (defined as whatever it's default order is).

Nope, couldn't delete the order. also couldn't take manual control. all i got was "Split Busy!" whenever i tried. clicking cancel order on the behavior tab did nothing. Even tried ramming him with a destroyer at 2k mps. i bounced off and went spinning and he didn't budge. I tried everything short of trying to edit the save...

I have had problems with build storage orders.
I often use build storage as a holding area, so have some ships put material in, and some take material out.
This sometimes goes wrong. eg order lots of hull parts into build storage and order another ship to take them out.

This can go wrong because a builder uses parts, but I strongly suspect it can go wrong for other reasons.
Eg order one ships to put 1000 hull parts in. Order a nearer ship to take 1000 hull parts out.
If the second ship docks first, it cannot complete, but the first ship won't dock because the dock is busy.

I have had to fix this by manually cancelling orders - even for ships docked (esp if only partial orders can be completed)

I have not yet seen instances where it gets stuck with 1 to go but cannot be cancelled.
especially if that was to put 1 in when it has one in stock.
I presume you have gone out of sector on it.

edit was it a deliver or a trade order?

I am not sure, but i think i have view somewhere they have mods they can cause thing like that, but i can not confirm because i don't use any mods.

Do you have tryed to go into the station and put the ship into storage..., i don't know if it's can unlock her but it's can unlock the landing pad...

What OP is describing sounds like the ship was trying to undock but for whatever reason could not. Maybe there are too many ships and the AI cannot figure out how to get out of there? Undocking is one of the commands that cannot be cancelled until it's completed, you cannot do anything with the captain until it is finished or take command yourself.

Tried using a tug(Tides of Avarice), to pull him away? ?w?

If dat fails try FIRING HIM.

If dat failed dan just BLOW THE SHIP UP (without dmging the station its near), give a report 2 sector security saying u destroyed a run away employee, and is allowed to destroy our own property. :3

Yeah, that might be the situation.

@OP: have you tried giving the ship an order (i.e. stack an order on top of it's current non-deletable one) from OOS? That's generally the way to get ships tangled up in asteroids or station infrastructure free 'cos a lot of detailed restrictions on movement etc are removed OOS.

You could have always teleported him to Hazardous Duty. Putting them in command of a repeat orders drop collection scout craft is always fun. If they survive long enough for you to collect their inventory... great! If not... problem solved.

I have had the same with miners. They are part full and when you zoom in on them on the map they are sort of juddering about like they are stuck on something invisible.

Yeah This guy was delivering 1330 Hull parts to build storage. it needed like 12000. he docked and delivered 1329 and just locked up.you couldn't order him to do anything. He couldn't be removed or fired, those commands didn't work. you couldn't cancel the command. i even tried giving him more orders and tried to move them up and down in priority to no avail. I evven spent 30 minutes OOS and nothing changed. that last part was welded to the deck and that S.O.B. wasn't moving til it was delivered. period.

Between that so and so captain and the Xenon attacking it cost me about 36 million credits to build a 5 million credit defense station. the Trader he was driving was a 14 million credit Buffalo.
It's an old bug, only thing you can do is blow it up.
