That was a factory with shipyard, some hull parts production , and scrap hull parts production. - it stopped station traders from fulfilling buy orders.
I think the not built yet it the answer, but would be interested if you have or don't have the same issue with buying hull parts.
My factory didn't produce a lot of hull parts, so I expected it to buy in, but the scrap seemed to prevent it.
Apology if this is not helpful.
Solution - don't build scrap and normal hull parts in one factory I think.
Build storage will have a problem if you need Terran wares, and are far from Terran space (or vice versa) - esp noticeable when you get shields / weapons from both...
Try this:
Build a station (just a dock) - sack the builder.
Then load build plan for that dock + lots of other modules.
give it a manager , trade for build storage ships, and lots of money.
It will then stock up on whatever mats you need.
Then manually order a transport to fetch the wares (from that build storage) and deliver to where you actually need them.
Never actually hire another builder for that station, just use as a store for materials when you want them...
Good for a defence station, as when full you can take all the mats and you know it is enough to build a station in dangerous space in one go, but also good if you just want to grab hull parts or claytronics etc....
I had ordered enough for the TER production parts and someone got stuck on the far side of the map "waiting for signal" so I was short on computronic substrate. I fail to understand why a module that is not even built is shown in the station illogical overview, all it does is generate confusion.
I "had" a defense platform at the gate to Matrix #598 and the only way I could get that platform up fast enough was to have multiple ships loaded with everything required to build on standby just out of XEN patrol range. I hired a local builder to build the first disc then expanded once I had some protection. A few days later the ARG started attacking my collectors so I pulled them all out and let the ARG have it.
Seems the ARG got their azzes kicked after I left as it is now a XEN sector.
Then I park a fleet on safe side of a gate, build a defence station - you can run if you need to, but you have the mats to build quick.
If the fleet starts suffering have it retreat to the station, then back again when you can.
After that, restock the build mats station, then when it is safe, take your fleet through the gate and build another defence station, etc....
PS may be better to hire a builder for this, in case it goes wrong :)
