Is there a way to scan for and also track hidden ships in sector?
context: i own a sector. Was busy building my stations in a different sector. i go to map to check on everyone and i see a sneaky warship came through my gate and started flying away. Then he left the radius of my satellite. So i took over one of my ships to go hunt it down. but its been 20 minutes now lol. If i remember correctly, Eve online has this scan mode im talking about, where you can look for ship signatures, pinpoint them, and warp to them. However, it would be more than enough to be able to just ping the general location of said ship in my sector with some kind of scan combined with what kind of ships to report in scan. idk if that's a feature or not. maybe there is a mod for this? or possible feature in the future.

Honestly? I wish the long range scanner would ping ships and in a unique colour like asteroids ping.

As for tracking a ship out of sensor range? If you catch it in sensor range, set it as your guidance objective... There is no escape from that.
I use the guidance to objective one alot for tracking ships through multiple sectors. And yea, that basically sums up what im asking lol. its fun to track stuff down, but not if said target is untraceable. like it doesn't have to be precise like the radar, just a general location ping like you said with the asteroids.

You can build a station with Wide Area Something Something Array. 225 kilometer range. And then you can have several of them.

While long range scan exists, it does not pinpoin ships and its range is something like 150 km. It does echo slightly at stations and reveals undiscovered stations though.

True that does help. Tho for exploration purposes it not as useful as a long range scanning addition for finding ships would be. Though i do use the current long range scanning for mapping station locations like you said.
