You can produce them in a station with either a maintenance or fabrication module, sold by representatives under "build modules", or with an auxiliary ship.

So all I have to do is build a “service bay”? Any class?
Yes, but the class (S/M, L or XL) determines what type of ship can be equipped there.

Hmm. So don't laser turrets fit on every ship?

although I think I'll try it first. I'll check back with you after I build it

Yes, but S/M ships can't dock at an L/XL bay.

Think of it as making your station like a faction's Wharf, Equipment dock, or Shipyard.

Mk1's do, Mk2's require a docking pad on the ship; but the issue is what type of ship can dock with a given build module and get services there. I would suggest checking auxiliary ships, which can service all types of ships and are much cheaper, although have a lower storage capacity.

Laser towers MK1 can be equipped on every ship.
Laser towers MK2 can onle be equipped on ships with a docking pad. (M frigates and most if not all L and XL ships have at least one)

Interesting about the auxiliary ships. I don't understand how it works yet, I'll give it a try, thanks
Auxiliary ships are like mobile equipment docks, although their capabilities are very limited: they can repair ships, install softwares, and supply consumables for which you have the blueprints; however, they can't do any major alterations to ships, such as install/modify weapons, turrets, shields or engines...

i think if you're going to buy blueprints for the maintenance bay, you'd be better of building advanced satellites for money. I think the margin of profit is higher for those (cost about 10k or so in raw materials and sell for 70k or so)

The maintenance bay is pretty expensive, though. The blueprint is something like 30 millions for the S/M version

I don't know how costly it is to make laser turrets yet, but I wanted to make them more for myself. I usually place a lot of laser turrets near the gate so they can destroy enemy ships and the other ship can collect trophies from them.

and why pay for a maintenance bay when you can hack it with an emi-bomb :)

Because in vanilla X4 you cannot acquire blueprints for any of the shipbuilding/maintenance modules using EMP/data leaks.

You can't. It's not in one of the categories that can be hacked.
