however, if your question is if there are other means to unlock that specific ship in your game without actually going through the timelines stuff... there should something to be found on nexus that simply sets timelines as completed.
Then,
If you go south from Atiya's Misfortune III you'll find a sector called Mists of Artemis. South southwest of this system you'll see a massive kha'ak installation. An abandoned Sapporo is just outside of the gun range of this station.
Beware, there is a much more dangerous threat in the area, and it spawns almost in range of the sapporo. You can either kill it, which is a risky prospect if you're not prepared, or let it fly away (Spawn the sector, make a visual confirmation to be sure it's spawned and then leave the sector for 20-30 minutes, it'll probably drift away)
And yeah... Once you claim the ship, you'll be able to research the blueprint, so it's not even essential to recover the ship.
In Creative, I believe you can simply give yourself Sapporo.
That's exactly what I'm talking about. If it appears in a game I've already started, well, my save is from day 1 when X4 was released, with around 3,000 hours of gameplay in that save. I'm not interested in cheating either.
So what I have to do is play the Timelines DLC, and it will eventually appear in my 3,000-hour save? Is that correct?
Failing that, just fly your start ship to Mists of Artemis. Do a first pass by to locate the Sapporo, then run straight at it. The Ka'ark will likely destroy your starter scout ship before you reach the Sapporo, but just EVA across the rest of the way and your good.
I think the Sapporo makes a great personal ship.
