My modded Thresher can do 470m/s cruising speed, However a basic Astrid can do 765m/s and a modded one can easily top 836m/s.

Add to that the modded Astrid can fly at over 13,500m/s in travel mode, sure can shift, mind you do need to do the Tides of Avarice to get one, or possibly both :)

Also the Dragon Raider can top out at 770m/s cruising speed, its been a sector scout ship for ages now just charting the galaxy.

i don't know about the thresher because i simply don't like boron ships.. contrary to the test of the majority obviously... but the katana is a relative quick M class combat ship.

if its just M class however.. nothing beats the Astrid and its Amazon 5* rated equipment.. depite the fact that it s a yacht and literally turns like a bick that is covered in soap.

A tank without tank gun? Not enough firepower as for personal use. Due to nailed down weapons not versatile either.
Before v7.5 it was awful to drive. Stopping distance could easily go above 100 Km. Now its slightly above 20 Km breaking from 17000 m/s travel mode. What is quite shocking but solely not enough to be a personal ship choice.

Katana is ok, with Argon engines mine tops 723m/s, however its got an average hold size of 560m3. The Dragon is even smaller, so the Astrid at 4,300m3 is awesome, sure it skids around like a brick on ice, but it depends what you need it for, fast delivery or in for a fight, choose what is best for each role.

If your doing the Avarice race...
save your credits, be quick enough and the duplicate, cheap as you can ;) enough said

i don't know why i need to do all this when they are telling me i'll be teleporting. It's a Boso Ta mission. I was going to just do it then try it in the Hyperion as that's fully modded lol

save the money, buy one good ship and the same ship as cheap as possible.
you'll be cheated by the other contestant anyway.... and will loose the cheap spare ship.

Me personally, I'm liking my Katana with mk3 combat engines(unmodded). It can run down anything I want to. Standard thrust is somewhere around 650 m/s

Travel Speed? The Boron ships Hydra/Thresher, Or Terran/Yaki Katana/Kuraokami.
Fight speed? The Split Ships, Dragon/Cobra, But the Katana/Kuraokami Doesn't miss by much, & the Hydra/Thresher comes in third.
- If you want something to get their fast, and still be fast in the fight, Katana/Kuraokami, or Hydra/Thresher. The Split ships actually lose out in Travel Speed. But those Split Mark 4 engines are good on M ships. On L/XL ships go Terran engines. They spool up quickest,
- Oh right the Astrid, Yeah. It's the fastest M Ship. And it's shields are bonkers. It's a gunboat, With mods it's not a bad little M flagship. I like having Katanas escort it. They match aesthetically.

Dart and Xperimental can be modded to high speeds. With 7.5 maximum reachable travel speed is 21 km/s and I think Astrid doesn't get there. Actually, roguey's site insists that the ship with the fastest travel speed in the game is ....

This seems to be true. 10224 m/s travel speed with PAR travel engines.
