Auto Miner Help
Bought myself a mining ship, a Hokaido Mideral and parked them in Saturn 2 set to local mine silicone, they are mining it fine but not selling it, they just hang out with a full bay. cant see how to setup the selling part in their behaviours / orders and loop it?

I have a Satelite setup in Venus at a Computronic Substrate Fab which buys Silicone so they can see prices, but never actually goes there without manually ordering.

The basic autominer can only sell to stations in the same sector. You need a higher level pilot to get advanced automine which allows selling to other sectors.

Most people get around this limitation by creating a mining station. Plenty of youtubes on how to set one up.

Although Venus and Saturn are too far apart for even the best pilot. I'd recommend asteroid belt if i’m selling to Venus.

If you are right clicking the Mine option for a Miner, then it will mine until full then alert you when they are full. The method should be used when your Miner Captain is low level and can't leave sector to mine and sell in other sectors. Mostly only early game should you have an issue with this. Where resources are in a sector with no place to sell it and a station buying it doesn't have any resources to be mined. But this is not how you really want to use your miner, the best option is Default Behaviors. Right click your miner go to the Information Tab, look for Default Behavior. Choose Local Automine Pick the Ware and the sector and hit confirm. Do this in a sector what has Ore or Silicon and is also buying those wares. Then the Miner will mine until full then sell automatically. When you have Higher level Captains you can set to a higher level Default Behavior and the miner will mine in a sector and sell to best deal a couple sectors away.
Make sure you drop some Resource Probes in all sectors you can mine in. And the Right Click Mine is a good way to see what sectors have that can be mined then you can set a Default Behavior.

I will bare this in mind, i was trying to avoid asteroid belt due to the Xenon there and lack the funds to build any stations rn.

tbf being fairly new and rusty, i wasnt aware the baring the pilot skill had so i will look for a better captain in that case! I do have the local automine set for the default behaviour per one of the steam guides but they are not buying there right now!

Use the skill books you find in trade stations, you can if you use it right, boost them to just about 3 stars.

The 2 star book is rare and sometimes given as a mission reward.

But I've had the same miners for about a full real-life week mining constantly, and they are only 2.5 star.

Xp grind is ludicrous.

good tip! i havent messed with them yet
-Get a bunch of small trading ships like the Calisto from Argon make sure they have crew.
-(OPTIONAL) Set up a trade blacklist to allow trades in only Terran and Pioneer space (do not set as default). Set this as the blacklist per ship in the ship behaviors tab. Make sure they comply with scans and pirates.
(Player information > global orders > blacklists NOT trade rules that's different and for your stations)
-Have them do local trading in Brennan's Triumph.
You will grind rep and level a bunch of captains while making a little scratch on the side. Doing so in Brennan's Triumph provides a safe place to do so but can work anywhere with shipworks and a medical supply in the same system. This is also a great way to grind rep with a specific faction using those trading blacklists and changing the anchor space.

later on you can get a medium trader as a captain repository and cycle those captains out of the Calistos and into said medium trader as service crew to hang out until you need them. You can have them work somewhere else in a mining ship or a large trader for example.

If you aren't opposed to mods two I would recommend are Tater trade, and faster crew leveling. The above advice works with or without them.

Mining is often advised early game as an income source for nividium mining at least until the orders are satisfied. After that trading brings in more than mining does, with medium and large traders that is.
