need emp bomb wisdom.
was running around scanning data leaks to try and get blueprints but after a few hours, just getting missions and commisons i gave up. Was looking on the net about emp bombs but they said it is a significant faction hit if you use them. Is it worth using them? does the faction hit make it not worth doing? Any of you experienced players let me know if you can.

Find the module you want, space walk up to it, shoot emp bomb.

Trigger it, then it should spawn 3 data leaks.

One of the 3 will give you the blueprint for it.

And no, it won't hit your rep. It will piss off the local police and they might try to shoot you while space walking, which will end up killing you if your not fast enough to get back to your ship.

Also, you can not get ship yards/wharfs or Equipment bays this way. You have to buy them like intended.

oh awesome so, no faction hit but the space police respond so you just race back to your ship and fly away with no penalty?

In order to receive the blueprints, you need to do the research from your HQ first. For example, if you want to get the blueprint for a production module, you need to have that first research option completed first.

And a workaround to not tick off the local police for the emp is fire the emp at the module but don't trigger it yet, get back into your ship and sit in the pilots seat, target the emp bomb and trigger it. Then get back into your spacesuit and scan the data leaks.

Oh yea, you need the hq. Forgot about that.

Just fly to heretics end, do the first few missions for bosa. Do the research thingy and "then" you can use the emp bomb for blueprints.

i got the research unlocked but wow got a whole lot of nothing for a few hours scanning random data leaks. sounds like emp is the way to go. thanks a bunch for your wisdom, like the tip about getting into your ship b4 setting them off. Happy new years !

You should get the blueprint from the production module within the 3 - 4 EMP bomb data leaks provided. I have yet to not get one unless I already had the blueprint or I didn't have the research done. I believe it was mentioned that you cannot get blueprints for the S/M Wharf/Equipment dock blueprints and the X/XL Shipyard/Equipment Dock. Those are straight purchases from Faction Representatives. No cheating with them :)

Getting missions? Were you scanning the right thing? The data leaks you want to scan are red dots, and you just about have to stick your face into one to get it to scan. The sparky things are not data links - they are desperate people looking to hand out missions.
ahh thanks, but ya was scanning anything I could so maybe I was just getting the sparky ones heh. Will start looking at them closer and see the differences. thanks for the info!

If you look at the production modules they do look a bit different to the rest of a faction's station bar Terran. They should stand out. That's where you need your emp and if you do it right when you detonate you should have 4 leaks. 3 will be trade commissions or nothing at all and one will be the blueprint.

When stealing them don't target one faction in one sector. You will set them off and they will send police and military and not just station security. Go to a sector, steal what you need and then go to another sector. You do sometimes get away with doing 2 in 1 sector, but it's quite easy to fly to another one and find what you need and avoid a fight and yeah a bit of negative rep.
good info thanks, I am collecting stuff to build some emp's now heh

If you're not sure what you're looking at on a station then fly close to the modules and on the right hand side of the screen it tells you what they are. I haven't played for a while and this used to be really fiddly? Oh it helps if you put short range scan on I think? Anyway it's fiddly and long-winded. It's much better to recognise what you're looking at as all the production modules, bar Terran and I think one for Teladi, look the same on every other faction's station. A good tip is go and look at a Split hull part factory. Split stations are all red and edgy, but not the hull part module and that will look the same on every other faction's station. Some don't though and you'll just have to learn what they are.
just used the emp and got a large container blueprint. thanks for all the wisdom!
