New Flight model - NOT GOOD for Large craft
Ok so I have several BBs and multi DDs

All of them are having a hard time in the new flight system.

The BBs need a real re work on AI control if your going to keep this.

It may be great for personal flying?? But for the AI its a huge step back IMO.

My multiple AAs and several GGs have no problem so far ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In what way are they bad.
Without details I have no frame of reference of what the problem could be.

Ok sorry guys.

I set an area to protect, a BB and 2 DDs, the BB is set to attack capital ships first, the DDs are set to defend the BB, ie. fighter point defence.

The BB is having a very hard time engaging other BBs and always fly off to at least 30ks over the attack zone, stop fly back and over shoot again and again. I had to take control of 4 of them tonight to engage the baddies.

I did not have to do this prior to the patch. Yes that had and have always had some manoeuvre issues, but this is way to much, they never get to engage as they are always over shooting the engagement zone.

Hope this makes sense.

There's not enough data. As in... what are you fighting, which ship, which loadout, which behavior, in sector (you're present) or out of sector (you're not there). Use of US navy hull classification isn't helping. As in, are you engaging multiple Is with multiple asgards? Because BB used to mean battleship, and K is a destroyer.

The beta is still going on, you could report issues, along with the save.

keep in mind that egosoft is actively working on L+ ships AI and behaviour, with every recent beta version changing things. (looks like they broke something recently)

I recommend posting detailed feedback on their beta forums so they can see/listen to it. Specifically this thread:

Thanks for the info guys.

Its simple mate, it fails to engage the enemy, because it keeps flying past them, agin and again.

Just a random question. Flying past because their massive ships and this ignoring realism. Are said ships much faster than before? Just wondering if that might be part of the issue if they tweake them with much higher speeds, so now we need to slow down a lot sooner.

Eventually you will get use to it... Eventually I will get use to it. But it's gonna be a learning lesson. Overall most people seem to enjoy the new flight model, I think some of us will need to adapt <3

Ship size and speed may well be the issue, and AI not calculating the require breaking time, or does it even have that calculation going on?

Its not me who needs to get used to it, if the ships can not engage, remember I have 6 or seven now, they are useless in game.

If you can not leave the AI to a simple task like, attack this enemy now, its pointless buying them and spending millions on them. May as well just purchase lots of Osakas.

I don't think there is any braking effect from cruise, (or boost), in new flight model, ships seem to just stop thrusting and take forever to slow down. If you try to turn for instance it seems to just fly sideways. Flight assist on/off has no effect either.

Thats what they said in the patch notes yes, anyway mate, that's fine for humans as we can adjust our speed as required. The AI for large ships it seems needs to be re looked at IMO.
You're playing "beta", just complaining won't improve anything, if you think there's really some issue, then post some report with saves and reports. Beta is for testing, not playing. Why they promote beta may be to get much of game test data, rather than 'playing' game. If you're really right, devs will try to fix them. As a player, we just can say 'Ship files, not fires, dies'. No one of devs won't be able to resolve some issue with that kind of feedback.
However I have seen many articles about the capships behavior, if they get reports accumulated good, then they will decide what they should do.

Not really sure if i see this as complaining or discussing. The current flight model is as you say, in beta testing and i'm sure the testers are aware of how it behaves, its pretty obvious.
I am ok with it so far, bit of a learning curve i admit but am hopeful the final release will be as intended by the team on task.

Just a personal perspective, so not to convince anybody, but I rather really prefer the new flight model. In 7.10, boost was just a junk. Not usable for capships. At that situation, boost was just 'shield-eating' thing. I also think flight model with the new beta should be fixed more better, but I still remember boosting killed some of my ships(when the shield was drained by boost) :steamfacepalm:
