Are the textures rather dated and blurry, or do I have a problem?
I seriously can't tell if I'm being overly critical or the game looks a bit meh, complete with a really blurred skybox and late 2000s-early 2010s interiors, or I'm having some tech issue I haven't spotted.

Just took this screenshot: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3423513200
How does it compare to what you're seeing in your game?
It looks like your resolution is set lower than you'd usually put it

its sharp and crisp on my end.

Try adjusting the anti-aliasing (AA) settings. I think SSAA is the clearest option, while the others tend to have some degree of blurriness.

This game looks better than most sci-fi tv shows. In 4k it is glorious. The level of detail is quite something.

It had defaulted to TAA. I tried the various options, not much visible effect but heavy FOS impact, I set it to FXAA med because it's an NVIDIA thing, I dunno.

The rest is preset Ultra, running along at 60 FPS tbus far.

I realize some of these aren't even meant to be viewed up close... but then, why allow player access at all?

Because the player can build stations however he/she wants?

Some assets do look a tad more dated than others, specifically argon ships. Some of them. The reason for that is that the game was released in 2016 and has been iteratively updated since. So your screens are largely in line with what I experience.

Current beta also offers some graphic upgrades.

Yeah, but why let walk all around them?

Frankly, what ticked me off was the skybox. It's KSP-tier, and KSP can be quite easily modded with a crisp 4K skybox.

Hardly the most important thing in the world. Was just wondering whether I'm having tech problems that warrant a refund.

I'd suggest disabling the UI Glow and see how it looks.

Try SSAA 4X, gives me best result. A small indie team can't afford a large PBR material library.

I did not have issues with skybox, though their quality level differs. Consider exploring other sectors.

Halvened framerate for little gain *shrug*

Ooh, I suspected it could vary.

what you see, throughout the basegame and the DLCs in their respective order... (you can also go through the various release versions) is a literal journey throghout the lifetime of the game... not from 2016 but since 2018 actually...

you will notice an increase and decrease of quality depending on the actual age of the related sector you are in...

simply spoken however... the game and how you experience it is a journey throughout its development and literally through time... methaphorically.. from 2018 until now.

also, because i do not recognize your Nick yet... welcome to our wicked community.
