What's the deal with the chirping 'crickets' sound?
Sometimes when I'm hanging out in stations I hear crickets chirping...is it just me, or is that really in the game? And what's it supposed to be?

I guess it could be that you are hearing the sound of a dataleak.

Data leaks have a lower pitch and a static sound, this is higher pitched, with no static.

I should probably record a short video the next time I hear it so I can post for reference, to make it more clear what I mean.

I have never heard a data leak from INSIDE a station though, maybe the cricket is what they sound like from the inside?

If you are in your office in the PHQ for example, then that is just the ambient sound for it. Other rooms have other sounds.

I was not in my own office, but I was in some quest NPC's office, the last time I heard it. So that must be it!

Thanks for responding to this rather insignificant question....i thought I might have been hearing things. It is an interesting choice for ambient sound. I noted that there was a planter in the room, so I guess the cricket hitched a ride into space with the plant/soil.

lol never heard crickets? There is a comforting humming sound. Where the hell do you get crickets from?

The humming sound is different, i'm telling you, it literally sounds like crickets. Not just "a little bit" but pretty much exactly. Crickets go "chirp..chirp.............chirp...chirp", humming is a steady constant sound, though it could modulate, it remains as a constant sound. Very different.

I'll record a short clip the next time I hear it and post it here. I've only heard it like 4 times across over 100 hours of play now, so it's not a super common ambience. I hear the humming, and other ambient noises, far more often.

Please do. I'm dying to hear this chirping now. I bet once I hear it I'll never stop hearing it, but my curiosity has the better of me.
Let's just hope the sounds are real.
