Strange late game performance
Hello!

I would like to share something that happened today to see if someone else has already experienced this.

I'm currently playing late game, with tons of ships and stations, the game normally feels slower with some FPS drops specially on heavy loaded system, but still good to play.

However, yesterday i went afk for more than 10hours and randomly left my ship on Netune, a system with really low activity. And now for my surprise the FPS drops are completely gone, game is running incredibly smooth like, idk, maybe the engine or the game itself has become much more stable, even on heavy loaded systems. Nothing changed on the computer outside the game.

I'm really curious about this.

Thanks!

How is the game performing on the map screen? Any change?

If anything I've noticed it's more intensive. I was mucking about with my settings earlier as I dropped down to 10fps flying around my hq. I dropped it to 2K with high settings and it was ok again. My hq is getting huge now. Nearly 110,000 workers, over 30 L miners and about 60 Frogs so it's always busy lol.

It might be OP that you're getting better frames because you're in a quiet sector. Try going somewhere busy.

I've left the ship idle at Netune from yesterday till today, a system with low activity. However now even on heavy loaded systems the game runs incredibly better.

When i stop playing today i'll left at Netune again to see if the performance stays this good.

lol it sounds like you're loving the game. What you should think about though is at some point you may have to lower your settings if your empire gets too large. And not just your empire. I've had games where VIG had thousands of ships and I think the Xenon upset them as they sent hundreds to Hatikvah's Choice 1 and not a single Xenon made it out alive from that gate lol. The Teladi also explode late game although they're only at war with the Xenon and Khaak so they tend to stick to their own sectors. Unless plots are done and sectors change hands, but I can't remember the Teladi at war?

There probably will come a point where you have to lower your settings. It's sad, but think of your pc. It's probably gasping for a reboot and some gentle facebook browsing.
Yes, you should check your CPU and GPU temperatures because this game can seriously overheat them, specially if the framerates are uncapped or if you're using some sort of overclocking on your CPU.

This game is probably going to get more brutal with system requirements as time goes on. I suspect a lot more features are yet to be added.
