Question about stations and activities on them
Other than the 'trader' room, I have been visiting the various other rooms on stations and have yet to find anything to do in any of them other than recruit, complete quests, or hack terminals.

Is there a small, random chance of other stuff, or is it safe to not visit those rooms if I don't want/need to do any of those specific things?

It's safe. The only room that is universally useful (and I usually pay a visit to) is the trader's corner, the one with the crafting bench.
