Also, try entering "clay" on the search bar so that the map will show stuff with that string in their name; this way, you can easily find claytronics factories on the map and see if there's anything wrong with them.
Changing to small i was able to find one location, i'm not sure why the AI hadn't brought any for me anyway. I suppose that is because there is a shortage?
That would be my guess as well: most npc traders are set to "fill shortages", which only lets them buy stuff when it's cheap (price lower than the avg).
