You forget the parts of the world where it still is and those who simply dont WANT to spend this much for "hobbys"
I can buy myself a new gaming PC whenever i want,
12y experienced in my job, german wage, no obligations besides paying my bills...
ezpz
My Turkish pal in the 100% same situation?
Using my old Rig because dear lord inflation over there is a bit*** and their wages are a joke.
Co worker of me.... 2 children...
Using console and bought his children new bikes for christmas....
Gaming is mainstream now, consoles are the cheap entry.
Gatekeeping means loosing out money this game desperately needs to get forwards
Not beeing able to port this game or risk-reward beeing too small ok sure.
If thats the case better dont waste dev time on smth thats not sustainable.
But gatekeeping for childish "masterrace" or "true gaming" stuff is kinda dumb $€-wise.
dunno about that. I mean after you spend $500 for a console you gotta spend $120 a year for a subscription... then the games which are around $60 EACH. I mean don't get me wrong, I like consoles, I own the Xbox Series X, I remember In 2001/2002 I purchased two XBox 360's so my oldest son and I could play games together... but I also had 3 PCs at the time. My point to the above to Geist (which included obviously some joking around) is that I spent $300 to get two Sceptre Curved 24.5-inch gaming monitors, while in 1996 Sony sold a 19" monitor that weighed 66pounds (almost 30Kilogram) for $1900... the monitor. My currrent PC cost less than a monitor in 1996... in fact my PC and my two monitors, my computer desk, microphone, speaker... etc all cost me less than a monitor in 1996. I guess that was my whole point, the idea that people TODAY think computers are expensive... when they're so insanely cheap and what you get now vs 20+ years ago is ridiculous.
But now gaming is not a niche hobby anymore. It has become one of the most popular forms of entertainment and for a good while it also became cheap enough to attract many people. But that time is over now.
Today building a pc is made far more difficult due to the generally ludicrous prices of graphics card costing up to £1500 (or more) which really shouldn't be any more than about £800. And they don't even perform all that much better for the cash. The graphics card pricing gives consolers almost a genuine reason to go consoles.
Still better to save and go pc than a console though, imho; it just takes 'patience' and 'disciplne'... I know ugly words for many, but the long-term pay off is great.
My youngest son asked for a Graphics Card for his PC, because his was several years old and if I recall at least 6 generations outdated. I'm curious what titles drive that demand to require constant spec changes in video cards.
Ah yes. He's probably wanting the latest triple A type games. You don't need the `best` GPUs for those even though they will think they do. However, were it I choosing for him, wouldn't go any more than say a 3080 12 gig or the Radeon equivalent as they're plenty for any game today - unless he's using VR. Just my opinion.
I'm not in to any console wars or witch is batter pc or consoles or what else is out there.
is about tastes and i respect all of them, thats why we are humans to be diffrent and learn to apreciate eatch other with our diffrences. If we would be the same that would make us robots. And i hope and like to belive that no one here got offended or try to attack or harm eatch other in anyway. We all here for the same reason and need to respect eatch other eather if you enjoy PC or CONSOLE, we are here to socialize and enjoy games not fight within eatch and other subject that concernes Console or Pc. Anyhow me point and an answer i was looking for if there is any clue if this game will ever be released for consoles.
Best Regards to everyone!
crypto miners.
the market is empty before some models even have rolled out.
i mean, i won't blame them... and once such a mining card has served its initial purpose it usually lands for way less than original price back on the market.
no shame in using a decent 2nd hand gup if its in good shape.
its problematic if it suffered any damages... but it is one way to get cards that are only one or two generations behind and still in good enough shape to run most things.
Well used Duracell batteries sell on amazon for 70 cents each vs 90 to 1 dollar each for new.
America has just got a lot of scammers these days.
I just bought my son a ps5 and a 4k tv for xmas. Less than £1000 and he's 4k gaming. TV was half price and I got that in the black friday sales that have somehow made their way to our shores. The PS5 I didn't get to Xmas eve. I was very lucky lol.
You might see an X game on the PS7? By then it should be a holodeck!
just try to literally imagine that.. by the time actual PC gamers might have so advanced hardware that you can live in the game while the consoles are... technically.. what we use today...
*sigh* if it weren't so sad it would almost be funny...
and no.. i do not mean that as an insult or low key pun...
and everyone with a keen eye should have noticed that my initial reply wasn't meant serious either...
its just how the things have changed what amazes me... how we can openly argue about the pro and cons compared to not even a decade ago...
Of course the big attraction for consoles is ease of use and using them in comfort. Well I've been pc gaming for years in a recliner lol so I got them beat there. You don't need to sit at a desk for a pc. You just need a couple of the right size desks. One with wheels on so you can bring your keyboard in close when you are fully reclined and another, bigger desk for your mouse and you can just about get away with playing X4 like that lol. This is great because it supports your entire arm and not just your wrist and that means more gaming! But no first person shooters laying down. You need a straight, vertical back to play those. Can still put my feet up though.
Of course the best thing about consoles is a disabled child can use them. My son wouldn't have a clue on my pc. But he can turn his ps5 on and load and play games. That's a big plus that the pc will probably never have?
As it is with most opponents, allies, friends, trends, dos/don'ts, facts, etc. and im all with you about the increasing speed of changes in group building, what again makes it difficult for some to adapt to the even faster changing trends of what is currents most bad thing one has to agree upon (depending on region & group, ofc).
Hence im going with what @donauwele wrote; like if it is in the products feasible interest to receive a broader audience via console release, may resulting in additional revenue to be reinvested into the product as well as in general for the safe of more people being able to play X4.
