50$ for this game why?

I want to try this and suffer the 12 hours just to get into it but why is this 50$? seems way over priced.

It's hard to really say what the value of a game is. I mean, some players just rush to complete everything and never touch it again, even if it's a sandbox game, and if you're one of those I can't imagine it being worth much at all. For me though this kind of game I will put in 1000s of hours, compared to some much more expensive ones where I'm done in dozens. In that case it's pretty good value for money. Especially since they keep updating it in major ways.

And of course, $50 doesn't mean the same to everyone to begin with.

Just to echo what others have said. It goes on sale often but in my opinion is worth every penny. My most played game by hundreds of hours.

Unbelieveable. And you couldn't stop yourself before that?

The only time I was ever suckered into paying more for something like that was Mech Warrior Online. I knew from the start it was a nickle and dimer, BUT I felt I had reasonable good self control. I would just use the free stuff.
However, I got quite into it and joined a squad, and THAT was my mistake. I'm very loyal once I join a team online and these guys required me to have certain mechs and stuff to help them, so I started buying this and that.
Suddenly it dawned on me I was paying raw cash for a game that was not mine, I could never play offline and if they took down the server- all gone. I saw the addiction taking place to sap my cash, exactly as the MWO Devs intended.. And I knew it was going to get worse.

So I stopped. Completely. And I really liked Mech stuff. Still do really. I do understand it can be hard. But tore myself away.
I only spent about 40 bucks.

But $5000????? And for what?

I maintain Star Citizen IS a con.

Because worth... in this game u can put 3000 hours in still saw only a part of the game and miss content

I spent £40 and spent a good few hours flying around, landing, mining, resetting wanted level and doing missions etc so i feel i got my moneys worth but yea.... They just need to get squadron 42 out and finish their universe game (many many bugs). I don't think they ever will though.

Most titles on Steam are definitely not worth $50-70 that they are priced. X4 however is. It's a good game and has been receiving MASSIVE updates for years. Therefore they deserve what they charge. Unlike 95% of the games that charge more than $35.

I too balked at paying $50, plus another $50 for DLC. After all, that's more than I paid for the 3 games I played throughout all of 2024 combined.

After playing for a couple months, I can say it was worth it. I didn't want to wait for a sale, I wanted to play it NOW. lol

I get my money's worth out of X4 every day, and I can see playing it for some time to come.

What this game does is amazing ... the amount of ships flying around, the activity in all the sectors of space, the shear volume of what is kept track of ... it is astounding frankly.

To repeat, my verdict is ... it's worth it.

I paid full price for base game before launch, and full price for every DLC, and I've gotten my money's worth of entertainment several times over.
