I like to set two orders, one to collect all drops in area and another to fly to point, usually the nearest station. This way the fast ship will go into the battle zone to collect drops but will fly back to the station when done. This helps keep it out of the fight and not just sit by a gate waiting to get deleted by a K or I coming through the gate. Also set it to flee when attacked by default.
After a while go back to that ship and talk to the pilot to transfer items to your inventory. You can do other stuff while you wait for your pilot to do the work and then sell the loot at a pirate station for some easy credits.
But they're easily obtainable if you put a defense fleet or station at any gate with regular Xenon incursions (or make use of an NPC fleet already in place) and add a single ship on repeat orders to collect loot.
You'll have hundreds of the things in short order (in addition to tons of mod parts).

Hatikvah might not be a good idea, as it's not always patrolled.
Also I have them at major NPC war gates (so ant vs hop, hop vs par). Not sure if non xenons drop those specifically.
Yes, once in a while one of them die. It's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.
