From what I have seen, if you can get your hands on an X3D CPU, AMD is generally preferred. Otherwise Intel seems to offer better lategame performance.
Given the recent trouble with Intel CPUs that has been "fully fixed" three times now, I personally would prefer AMD, and for the next upgrade see if Intel gets their stuff together with Lunar Lake.
Note that X4 is also very memory sensitive. If you go AMD, spend some research on the correct memory config. Higher bandwith sticks can actually reduce performance on their platform.
With both Lunar/Arrow and 9000 X3D around the corner I think I will wait for those 2 to drop and make my decision then.
Good point about the mem, I will upgrade to DDR5 at the same time, gona have to research the best mobo+cpu+mem combo there.
