i am in scan mode and can't see anything. This is where it's FINALLY directed me to too.

EMP bombs and normal bombs are illegal, so normal station vendors won't sell those. You have to go to SCA or HAT station vendors. They may sell the needed components or even the EMP bombs. Not sure about the latter, maybe only the blackmarket traders sell the bombs. But to unlock blackmarket traders you need to do other stuff which is too tedious (?) to explain.

You can also collect the bomb componenty by collecting loot from destroyed ships. You could also use the long range scan (shift+3) to search for security containers. The ones with the locks you have to shoot at.

Lodestones must be mined from asteroids. Just approach an asteroid field which have resource, use the short range scan (shift+2) and look for colored bulge. Shoot at it with your ship weapon and it may drop lodestone.

i dropped a normal bomb from my suit and it didn't cause a leak. Shift and 3 scan finds no containers when i do it.

Normal bombs are explosive. EMP bombs are for creating leaks.

Fly to another sector to use the long range scan. You have to look for the blue pings and the golden pings. Or just use the travel drive and fly 100 km or so outside of the center of the sector.

I've just started a new game and I think I know your problem.

The thing with this mission is you need to find any SCA station and then find a leak. Now what can throw a spanner in the works is it might be a HAT pirate station and not SCA so make sure you look at that. And don't waste an emp. If you find a SCA station (best bet is to go to Silent Witness 11 + 12) it will have a leak somewhere and the first clue is noise. You will hear something like a downed power line. Follow that noise, scan mode (Shift and 2) and you should find it.

Good luck.

Oh and once you've scanned the leak 2 ships will attack you. They will follow you until you destroy them. Only S ships, but they do have blast mortars so they could take you out if you're not careful. I know Dal says use a nimble ship like a scout. Ignore him and take a Katana lol.

The dude literally sent me a message to two stations. Then he said to scan for data leaks or drop an emp to create leaks. I can send a pic of the direction tag if you want. Here i'm at SCA stations (scale plate)... no emps, crafting mats or nor can i craft them. I have been to other stations.... same ****. There's the **** himself in the pic. ******* slimey slime ball. It's worth the money itself just to point out this ****. And ****** bags here dissing NMS LOL SO PRECIOUS!

Feel free to use another ship with more weapons and better shields. Maybe even a M ship if you feel like it.

Also, if you have troubles with a mission, just do something else first and come back later. There is no time limit or something.

it's the first mission of the game and i have about 20k. I don't get offered anymore missions i have flown everywhere.

I'd recommend to go to a safe sector and get used to finding leaks first. They're usually present on most stations, but are hard to spot. They respawn after some time. Basically, in a scan mode, the game presents you a little wave indicator which activates if leaks are nearby and the peak on the indicator sorta points in direction of the leak. And it is not explained anywhere. You can also hear them, and even turn towards them using sound alone, but it takes more time. A decent trick is to use the indicator to turn towards leak, then roll 90 degrees and turn towards leak again. Makes things easier.

Regarding NMS.... NMS has 10 if not 100 times more budget, so X4 has rough spots. This is one of the rough spots. You can put the mission on hold and return to it later. Once you clear the mission, you can skip it in a custom start if you decide to start over.

It's not the first mission of the game. It's just one of the story missions which is available from the start if you are nearby specific sectors.

Are you talking about story missions or generic missions? Because generic missions should be pretty much offered anywhere. As I already wrote (in the other thread?), just hop on the ring highway, have the map and the mission offering window open and you should see some missions which you can accept. Make sure to pause the game so you're able to actually accept the missions...

And don't forget to join the "guilds" for even more missions.

you log in get told to go see reeva who tells you to check out the dudes ship as he'll want to show it off to you etc then he tells you to scan the leak. He does not say you will more than likely need an emp to cause a leak. He doesn't mention emp's until you get to the scale plate stations. I'll check out this guild offer though i did the other thing. I'll eventually log in again and make an emp but it is a bit silly.

They won't register, it is just to get used to the mechanic. You could also craft that EMP. Or buy it. Though to buy it you might want to register in one of the "guilds" first.
