How to best use the Odachi
I built four Odachi and attempted to use them for both bombard and intercept vs a KHK hive and was not impressed with their durability. I have not attempt vs XEN yet but expect much the same results. What are these ships best suited for in a combat scenario?

M ships in general do not have staying power in this game. They are easy targets with weak, interruptible shields, much of which they expend in pointless boosting. Use them either as fire support for fighters, or for fights that they can end too quickly for durability to matter.

My initial reaction was "it is another vanity ship", but looking at the stats, it is basically very slow, but fast turning Katana.

So it could probably work where you'd plug in a Katana (or Dragon or Nemesis), or as a player ship, but then you'd want to mod it so it has decent speed.

Regarding KHK, typically you'd want to use destroyers with terran L lasers against KHK, and not M ships.

I do like the Odachi as player ship. Even unmodded it handles extremely well and is quite small. So perfect for abusing blind spots of L and XLs.

Also with like 15 mines you can take out a K easily (come from behind eradicate the turrets and drop the mines directly on the shield gens. After that your EMCs kann delete the remaining hull in an acceptable time).

For me the Odachi is more like a bigger/better heavy fighter.

Also I find it's speed quite sufficient. In battle (with 2 terran m shield in a relative smaller ship) I'm more concerned in keeping the enemy infront of me then outrunning them.

400m/s is fast enough for most dog fights.

Sadly the AI doesn't seem to use it's maneuvarability efficently
