A Matter of Utmost Gravity; Can't reach secure clamps

I really need some help here. I can target the clams. In some cases I can get within 20 of them but cant get to destroy them? What am I doing wrong? Please help me.

if I remember properly its the paranid plot and
this is inside the ancient paranid structure, you can hit green switches with you hand gun to unlock passages, and in the room with cocoons you can hit their bottom part to free them

Ok, I figured it out. It stumped me so I figured I would tell others. So at some point Dal says something like "good, they got through; take them all." I had no idea what he was talking about, but apparently he gave me space suite bombs. I only had EMP bombs before. Just get as close as you can and set off a bomb.

I am having the same issue and this is my 3rd game start. The clamps neither light up nor damaged in any way using lasers or bombs. First 2 worked fine but in this case, not working. The, what looks like a crystal on the front of the pod will not break. Definitely a bug...after 40 bombs and minutes shooting with blaster.

Hmm don't think it's a bug? I think you have to do them in order? There should be one highlighted and you can shoot them with your pistol I think? It's been ages since I did this one. It's definitely not bugged unless people are using mods?
