Argon Freighters getting a revamp?
Everything else is "E" so why not the Argon?

I wouldn't be surprised if it happens eventually, they can probably only handle so many at once though.

why ? I mean they have good looking freighters, I think that's why they did not get any remake.

I rather see them revamp things that don't look good or add new freighters.

They redid the Argon destroyer and Carrier though and I wouldn't say the old models were any worse than the freighters.

Honestly they need to make the incarcatua freighter an XL freighter. Put 2 XL engines and XL shields with L turrets and it will all even out a little. The E TEL Freighter modded is ridiculous in comparison to a modded incarcatua.

It might happen eventually, but the thing is, Argon has too many freighters compared to everybody else. And half of those are assembled from similar parts. See:

Mokosi vs Veles or Incaractura vs Shuyaku or Mercury vs Ides. Oh, and they all have sentinel and vanguard variants.

It looks like they initially wanted very specialized freighters but had to drop the idea.

I agree. I like the Sonra. And then the stretched Sonra makes sense.
I don't see them bothering to revamp the rest because well, each race only has one.

I've never once used either the Mokosi or Veles. The Incarcatura being made an XL, as mentioned, would be absolutely GENIUS. The Shuyaku and Sonra are really the only two ships I've ever bothered with, and usually that's because the Okinawa is the worst trade ship in the game and if it were better, I'd go with it to match Terran aesthetic.

I honestly think time spent making "E" models of existing ships is wasted effort. I would rather they make entirely new ships, like light carriers for all factions, XL battleships for all factions, a Xenon carrier (J), and personnel transports.

I doubt it's wasted... the newer models look clearly better (especially the Paranid). Sure they could focus entirely on adding new ones but then players will see those alongside the older, dated models that are no longer up to their current standard. Games that do that start to feel like a cheap cash grab after a while. It's encouraging to know when you buy something that even the already released parts will still get attention.

Yes this I agree some of the older models looked awfull and when you put them next to the DLC ships it felt weird.

But they should invest that money into models that were really ugly not on models that look good. right now most of the ship models look quite good.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Not all old ships are bad.

IDK what else could be considered ugly. Maybe the original Argon constructor?
RaptorSolutions Dec 2, 2024 @ 11:19am
Constructor is a constructor, and for it's purpose it's decent. Well, it's a brick. Though differentiating it from the ToA one might be worthwhile.
The Nomad aux ship is also a brick, but you are also more likely to see it, so I say that one. Then again I can't think how to improve it, because well... It's a brick.
The Sonra line is good so I'll keep it, I've always liked the Sonra itself actually, but the longer one's... It makes sense as it's just stretching out the Sonra so I don't think it should be actually changed.
Mokosi and Veles are weird, but they were designed for a different paradigm. They should just be deprecated perhaps. Or maybe give them back their original role as large scale raw material transporters, then it might be worthwhile redesigning them. Then again, I don't know how many people actually build raw material mining stations. i do, so I might enjoy the redesign, but then again Argon designs aren't my favorite anyway.

Ugly here is not just image. ARG constructor is pretty good considering the other options with respect to speed/shield and price.

This is original Paranid Hair Dryer. Absolutely hideous.

Compare it to what we have now. The upgrade was absolutely worth it.

Argon constructor, by the way, is a nod towards X rebirth. This thing unfolds the same way constructor in Rebirth did.

Nomad (Argon Aux) is a cool ship, but could use a slight facelift. It is okay, but Behemoth E has better detail.
