I have often argued that this game needs about 100 hours in one game to get enough knowledge to play well enough
This game need perseverance to learn and really enjoy and a brain to master.
You clearly not the target audiance for this.
I mean you just the type of guy who has nothing better to do than find a way to complain on the internet because you have nothing better to do.
Do we have flight assist in spacesuits? I can't remember? But that might be off which is why you're struggling? Have you been bashing the kayboard in anger?
I like how you immediately attack someone for raising valid criticisms of the game. You say i am not the target audience, take a look through my steam library, I am exactly the audience.
Now, bring some valid arguments rather than insults to the discussion.
@gibbo, I have played young gun before, im not new to the game. My issue is with the poor game mechanics and lack of polish.
Backspace will help you with that. Its not only useful for ships but it also stops the spacesuit in place.
Didn't need to dip my toe or spend 100 hours before being well and truly hooked, if they did a remaster of the first one I would buy it in a heartbeat. X2 with its janky animations was still a really enjoyable game to me despite it sometimes feeling a little corny.
It has been a while since I last tried X4 after feeling burned with Rebirth I just couldn't get into it, about to have another go at it now, wish me luck.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have a good enough PC to run X2: The Threat, and by the time I did, X3: Reunion was just launching.
I won’t say Reunion grabbed me, but Terran Conflict and Albion Prelude certainly did. I especially miss the Boreas and the original Hyperion.
In my opinion, Albion Prelude had the best art style in the entire series.
As for X Rebirth… well, let’s just not talk about that.
Then there’s X4: Foundations, which I find to be very flat. Combat feels dull, lacking the variety of weapons and effects that made previous games exciting. The art style is subpar—though I’ll admit the Boron ships are an exception. Oddly, the game doesn’t feel like it’s set in space; something about it just feels off.
It seems like they panicked when Star Citizen was announced and tried to emulate some of its features, but without the creative vision or the massive budget to back it up. (For the record, I’m not an SC fan or player.)
The last complaint i was not sure if I understood. The pirates should have attacked you when you ignored them? I'd agree with that.
I have been pondering the x4 community edition for a long time at this point.
Yes, I would have expected the pirates to attack when I refused to drop cargo.
Not sure what it was, but might be seeing the Sol system in all its grand glory as I flew through it.
Main draw for me is the customisation of the stations, being able to finetune production by adding the modules you want & finding ways to integrate the NPC economy in your plans.
Also the large variety of ships to fly is fun.
Rediscovering a new X universe iwas also neat, with new systems & links + the dynamic aspect of it (it goes slow, but sectors can change ownership, especially when you help one side over the other)
Never had much issues with the spacesuit moving itself or the walking in stations (albeit I do set the default movement to sprinting, as walking is too slow); I do agree that various missions got way too narrow tubes for the spacesuit moving, causing you to bounce wildly at times in those tubes.
That said, spacesuit in narrow places is such a minor part of the game, I'm not really bothered by it. Got my tradefleet delivering goods across the universe from my factories & keeping the economy of the various factions afloat through it. It does assure my fondness for the X series ever since I set up trade empires in previous iterations.
Also simply enjoying the pretty graphics is a big part of why i play. Cruising through a system, seeing my ships & NPC ships fly across space with beautiful space backdrops remains great.
I think we have different tastes. Personally, I dislike the new map and gate/highway system, as well as the boosting and travel drive mechanics. I preferred the old NSEW gate system from the first three games. While I don’t disagree with the changes to the economy, I’m frustrated that we can no longer produce weapons and missiles. In X3, one of my main goals was to build a factory complex capable of producing every type of weapon.
We can make as many weapons / missiles as we want.
boost & the flight model as a whole are getting overhauled, if you didn't know
Variety is a good thing in my books. I can't imagine preferring the old repetitive gate arrangements.
anyway these are matters of opinion. None of this, neither of our opinions, makes the game good or bad.
