I think he's talking about the gambling den unlock at the HQ, I remember there being a trick to that mission, but I can't recall what it was.
And yes it's stupid there is no indication of what time is required, how far off the time you are etc.
Go through a gate, if you can align in time for the next gate, turn off flight assist (so you can align faster), align to the gate and turn it back on.
If you can't align in time because the gates are close to eachother, turn off your travel drive (or engines all together if it's easy for you, putting them in reverse slows you down faster), align normally, turn on travel mode.
That's how I did it. The timing musn't be very tight, because I was quite lazy and slow and still managed to hit the target.
Yeah I think it does? I've never done it on the first attempt lol. You need to use travel drive where you can.
I built a Pegasus with TER engines and boosted my way to victory. Just did it a few days ago, no problem with that mission.
Egosoft is very bad on mission briefing ....
They also have the fastest acceleration to top speed(both charge time and speed up), doesn't really make much difference in a fighter though, capitals though are very noticeable with their travel drives.
Normally you just need to fly close to any habitat module from the specified race and then the mission will advance to hte next step. It can be going to the bar and stick close to the target or scan a leak on a module (I think the leak appears with the mission steap).
Best boost per shield ratio, best travel drive. High top speed gets you nothing in this race.
