I never found a place to sell them.

I only make one now, and sell the parts after that.

You have to craft a SETA engine from three parts, those are found in drops left by destroyed ships; a flux capacitor, a damaged seta engine and a programmable field array.

once you have those parts, you can use a crafting table found on many station docks around the gate network to create one.

Well, they shouldn't allow you to craft more than 1, and never put a price tag
You can't sell it, can't drop it
I crafted 12 to make 20 mill, and just wasted money
Now I got another 20 mill says in my inventory, which is not really true
Just sell extra parts, you can sell parts but not seta

Looks like a game bug....

Oversight really, not a bug
I don't use seta at all, never even had an idea of it
On contrary, I would trade seta for time slowing device
Yes there is a pause in the game, sure, but for many commands you need to undo pause and turn it on again, just to go on another step of planning, so they confirm first order
I feel like always running against time anyway, why would you accelerate it lol

This. The Seta behaves exactly like it should. As was suggested before, you should only be able to own one lest you create the impression that it is a ware that can be sold for profits.

It wasn't planned to be in the game at release, it was added later on by request of old players who wanted to speed up time like they were used to in the old games.

So Egosoft decided to make it a craftable item that the player could own and use.

Unfortunately, in doing so, they forgot to lock its crafting to one.

It should never have gone into crafting, it should have been a Boso Ta research project instead.

I don't know why they didn't limit its crafting to one, because we see new players on this forum all the time with exactly this problem of crafting it to make money and then realizing they can't sell it by design.

Yea, it really is a shame that they've never fixed this. Anyone who gets caught out by this should feel free to cheat or edit their save file to fix it. The way the save file is formatted is a little bit annoying, but it wouldn’t be too hard to delete 9 SETAs and bump your account balance by 9 million.

I never gave a toss for SETA, but during my many hours of scavenging and picking stuff up I ended up with enough parts to make a SETA. So expecting to sell it I made one, but to my chagrin it somehow installed itself. I never asked for it to install.

The first I knew about it was when i accidentally triggered it and everything was going at super-fast speed. Took me a minute to realise what the heck was going on.

I wanted to SELL IT, not have it auto-install! What the?

Seta is good when you have to wait some times, like in the story of avarice, when the tide will come, to proceed with a mission or when you wait for some money to come.
To not been able to sell , i understand, but the game should not allow you to build more than one...

I had 3 which I sold 2 of. Can't uninstall the other one... Heck I'd give it to you free if I could. I just don't care for it.

I may have to complain to Egosoft about that.

SETA parts are more valuable than SETA itself. Both in the wares for crafting and in practical terms.

You see, SETA is the lazy way to get past some time that you would better spend doing stuff that improves your game. When you speed up the game with SETA it becomes increasingly unstable and you might not spot what went wrong until a few real hours later.

My suggestion is to save the game before using SETA; use it briefly to say .... take your fleet near to an enemy incursion I only do this when I don't have the RL time to make my attack before I go out.

SETA is good on 3 occasions only:
1. In approaching ships to fight when boosting will deplete your shields,
2. in elapsing boarding time since staying close to the boarded ship increases the survivability of your Marines, and
3. When playing without highways (in creative gamestarts)

Elaborate please about boarding please
How exactly it helps your marines?
I'm usually hang around target of my boarding ship just doing some map things
And when I'm not, like start boarding and flying away to the other sectors, tbh never noticed any difference
I'm not saying that it's not true
But what are the evidence or effects that it works better when you around and using seta?
Ta
