Also It has random events that change factions relations... factions previously at peace will go to war at random... you will get a notifacation.

They won't invade each other though, unless you remove the Teladi sector between them or use mods that add sectors between them.
What I noticed in all of this is that as Xenon diverted their forces to defend and eventually attempt to retake TC, the Terrans regrouped and started launching massive attacks on both Argon and Antigone sectors. So to your point - yes, more wars add a whole new dynamic to the game, because your enemy may also be the enemy of your enemy, and by punishing one enemy, you can end up helping the other enemy. I love it, because it forces me to think a bit more "diplomatically".
In my game war started between argon and Teladi, Teladi Destroyer shoot at fighter from main caliber and plasma turrets, argon fghter died, other fighters start attack teladi, then other ships start full scale fight, all this took like 20-30 minuts.
You can start anywar by provoke one of sides shoot at you while you at small ship that hard to hit, and then make shoot at you while you near others side station or ship, better big ship, they will start loose reputation from that and war begin, but i must warn you as there is NO diplomacy, you cannon stop war. Fake diplomacy presented in plot missions only work inside this missions and without them no possible interactions with factions excepting war actions.
