Mineral miners unable to mine purple (gas and mineral mix) resources?

Getting back into the game after a long time away. I sent a small and medium mineral miners down to Pious XI and IX to harvest and also boost my rep with Paranid. They were unable to mine anything there. I fully scouted out both sectors, put down resource probes and satellites (probes confirmed there were plenty of minerals there), I tried both auto mine and manual mining and tried both ore and silicon. Neither the small or medium miner could mine anything in those 2 sectors. There was also an ore refinery in Pious XI so it had nothing to do with no one wanting to buy materials (although that shouldn't matter since manual mining isn't working). The message that pops up is that there is none of the resource in that sector.

I don't have any gas miners yet so I'll give them a try next. Just wanted to see if I'm missing something obvious or maybe there was a change to how mining works.

update: ok, it's not purple resources that are the problem, I was able to mine in Saturn 2 just fine. Just those particular sectors that are weird for some reason.
