Check your travel blacklist to see if- Do not traverse: Sectors containing dangerous regions is checked. If it is, uncheck it and it should start working automagically.
thanks a lot, appreciated!
i've slapped a whole bunch of probes all over the void. no change.
if i whitelist the void, i get failed automine: no resources in allowed sectors. there's (over)abundance of methane in the void as i'm sure everyone knows.
if i blacklist eighteen billion, they just go somewhere else, similarly far and inefficient. from that point on, it's just a blacklist whack-a-mole that gets very boring very quickly.
i was trying to avoid repeat orders but i guess it's the only option now. i have no idea why though, and it bugs me to no end.
i haven't managed to find this anywhere. where is it please?
Also, check the station to see if any blacklists are set to it. Player commands can trump blacklists. (Station Supply, Sector Activites, Sector Travel)
Alternatively you can assign individual instruction blacklist which will trump the station manager. You could create and apply a "whitelist" to them as well, only allowing them to travel and activity in the desired sectors, only the "Do not traverse: Sectors containing dangerous regions and sectors owned by enemies" can muck up a blacklist/whitelist for some reason.

Which ship type are you using? Maybe S and M miners doesn't want to mine there no matter what, while L miners are okay since they have better shields and can survive the hazardous region.
If this still doesn't work, well, maybe build a station in The Void, with a pier and liquid container only. Maybe a dock for smaller ships.
Let L ships mine for the station. Use a blacklist to rectrict all sectors but The Void. So the L ships mine in The Void.
Then use other ships (must be gas miner ships!) as traders which will transfer the methane from your station in the Void to other stations in Second Contact 2.
they're all L miners and just refuse to cooperate.
i might try building a storage 'depot' right in the void and see what happens. thanks again everyone, really cool to see this game having so many dedicated players - it's a blast!
I had an issue where i had to rebuild scrap processors because they did not want to traverse the dangerous region for some crazy reason. After I rebuilt them they started working again. It's weird that other stations work, but that one doesn't. Hmm. They changed something with dangerous regions a little bit ago. Sorry it doesn't work for ya. Hope you can get it working! Good Luck and have fun!
Since Gas miner don’t attract any enemy naturally I use exclusively M miners to get in and out of the void for that pure methane
as suggested (thanks!), i have built a resource 'depot' in the void to have my L miners dump stuff in there and then M ships distribute it further. i assigned the previously uncooperative L miners to mine for the depot and all went well... the first time around. they all do one mining run, unload in the depot, then get permanently stuck on 'undocking' command and there's absolutely nothing i can do with them. they report no errors or anything, they just float into nothingness, stuck on the command.
i tried deleting commands, taking over the ships, replacing the captain, firing the captain, reloading the game, nothing works. so i sold the ships and bought new ones. and guess what, the same thing happens with the new ones!
since this is clearly broken af and i feel the games owes me for that, i have simply installed a mod that removes hull damage from the void's hazards, and replaced the L miners with M. they work. they still refuse to mine in the void if their commanding station is outside of the void (see my original issue in this thread), but it is what it is.
Weird that it didn't work in your game. I wonder if the used ship's stat are important, like shields. I mean in my game the miners happily mined there without problems. Without building a station in the hazardous region.
Also weird with the undocking command. Probably a bug.
Anyway, The Void with its hazardous region is indeed annoying as hell. It would be okay if the region only destroys the shields just like in one of the Xenon sectors next to Hatikvas Choice. But the hull damage is just a really bad idea and can destroy so many smaller ships ...
Using a mod to the remove the hull damage was probably the best idea.
