FSR is a rival to DLS from what I have seen.
FSR is just upscaling with sharpening. That's why it doesn't need active support from AMD (like DLSS needs from Nvidia to train AI profiles).
It naturally gives worse results than DLSS but is hardware independent and doesn't need driver support.
DLSS is completely different (and vastly superior).
Just look at some station that is 15-20km away and fly towards it... you'll see the difference. Though as you said, fps boost is nice. I will probably use it in places when it drops the most..
Yes sure i see what you mean - but when you play in higher resolutions i really appreciate this kind of technology. And to be honest every frame is welcome in X4 - especially in the late game :)
have fun with tides of avarice folks
I hear you :). Though the game is not bound by the GPU really (maybe CPU, maybe sth else). So I doubt FSR will help us in the late game :(.
As an example: I just started a new game, got to Second Contact II Flashpoint and even if I set FSR to performance mode the FPS drops to around ~40. That's even when I switch to lowest graphics setting too... on 3090...
Having fun! You too!
