Takoba has elegant Terran design and can equip powerful meson stream, you can give it a shot.
For those that go Vanila too much there is also the Asp (not the raider), just as fast and agile but with a third gun in the axis instead of the second shield that can be used for a can... errrr... lockbox opener Beam MK1
You don’t need the fastest ship as any light fighter with split engines will be fast enough.
From my experience the Nova, Takoba, Moreya are excellent at dogfighting.
For Personal use I highly recommend the Nodan I love flying in that thing.
It has high speed, good cargo, and I personally love the way the cockpit can be walked right into when it docked.
Takoba is an interesting ship, has twice shields, more acceleration and pitch/yaw, but twice less weapons. It may be somewhat compensated with terran weapons available? I still have no experience with those. Think I definitely like to try Takoba with proton barrages.
Not sure why you include Nova in the list, Perseus definitely won't perform worse than Nova, it's all around better ship. What bothers me - only 2 weapon slots, it's just not enough dps to deal with any decent threats solo.
As for split engine let take the slowest light fighter I can think of which is the Kallis.
With split engines mk4 it move at 331.
It won't catch the fastest ships around but it can easily beat the Xenon M which move at 307
Only Split ships will really give it trouble and that if the split ship can even penetrate it massive shield.
Weapon isn't really as important in my opinion as long as they can take out the shield in the first attack run then the fighter AI will have no issue taking out the ship in the next attack.
They even have some weird maneuver that allow them to keep attacking the ship after the first run by strafing around it if it no longer has the ability to outrun the ship (no boost or travel)
But since speed is no longer function of hull damage, I prefer firepower to eliminate target in the first run. Dead targets can't shoot back.
Not sure I understood part with rotating engines, was sure all hull shapes just cosmetics, the real characteristics are numbers. Maybe I'll test it for myself.
Yes, but again for active solo fight I want as much gap as possible. And with low dps I would want even more, preferably instant, shields are not the correct answer when fighting multiple enemies, even M shields aren't invulnerable. If you can't clear enemies fast enough you are at constant risk to bite too much.
You don't have to destroy any xenon stations, just do the terran mission concerning the Yaki and you will befriend +20 with the Yaki, so you can buy the moreya blueprint, but you will then have to build it in your shipyard
Thanks! Mainly I meant that in my game there are to many xenon ships in Savage Spur to operate safely in any thing but destroyer.
But looks too much work for just this fighters en mass. I'm not on terran start, I'm not really into shipyard business, I find S ships except player's current are too expendable anyway, and AI won't make much advantage of superior chassis. 1 unique just for me, I consider enough for now.
I may go that direction yet, bc after it was brought to attention I want to try Takoba as fighter and also to see what Katana/Falx can offer counter to Nemesis. Honestly, I would classify anything S as light fighters, and M which they call Corvette as heavy fighters.
