Data decryption and Data vault - entry added to TImeline

I scanned a beacon on a data vault and got a message; something about a new entry added to Timeline.

What does this mean?

Also; when scanning leaks on stations I sometimes get "data decrypted" but no explanation on what it is. What do i gain from those scans?

In the encyclopedia there a timeline tab

This give you some story of key events that happen up to X:4

This is from datavaults anyway

For scanning leaks on station it could be a discount you miss or maybe blueprints?
depending on the leak it could also be a mission

Quite a few leaks (red dot ones) result in no reward. Maybe something Egosoft is working on perhaps. Or maybe there is a cap to the number of discounts we can get scanning leaks.

The data leeks on station if it's with the sparkles is a mission, if it's with red ball to get the Blueprint decrypted successfully you need first to complete the research in the science tab on your HQ with Boso Ta. To get better chance for success things that help is use your space suit when scanning them, use EMP bomb to force the leeks it should guarantee you 100% the blueprint if all above done. higher reputation with the owner of the station. Leeks on Wharf or shipyard building module will never give you the Blueprint those you need to buy.

Ah cool didn't know about those tabs

The scans might be that I don't have upgrades unlocked yet? So blueprints just go into the void?

Yes you need to research there are five upgrades, storage, production, docking, defense and habitation. Production will save you ton of credits in the the beginning run, you can buy the blueprints that cost less than half a million with credits and use EMP on the more expensive. Start getting the production chain for Hull Parts then Claytroincs and Energy Cells this are used to build all the rest. Then move to Advance Electronics.
