What are the blue/yellow circles when I LR scan?

Sometimes when I LR scan, pulsing blue or yellow circles appear. But when I try to fly to them, there's nothing there and nothing on map. What are these circles?

*Generally* speaking, the blue circles will be asteroids/stations, the gold circles will be lockboxes, and purple circles will be warp anomalies.
The circles are mostly an indicator for "go this direction" until you get within visual range, so you might need to scan again after travelling closer because the destination circle will have moved.
