Although it's a bit weird that the button to transfer wares is greyed out. But maybe this is only the case for this mission.
Yes I did.
I figured it out... the game went out of its way to warn me that I could "scam" them if I wanted; so when I got to the station and looked at the UI it seems to me that if I TRADED (i.e. SOLD) the goods, instead of using TRANSFER; I would be scamming the mission giver...
The mission order was DELIVER THE GOODS not SELL THE GOODS or TRADE THE GOODS...
Poor mission description compounded by the unecessary dialogue talking about the possibility of scamming the NPC.
What do you mean I clicked the wrong button? I clicked TRADE in a last effort to move the mission forward. I fully expected to sell whatever was given as cargo for me to deliver and run away with the money. I was tired of trying to figure out how to properly DELIVER the goods...
To cheat the NPCs you would have to take that cargo and sell it to the highest bidder. They can’t really stop you from doing that, but they do want you to go sell it to a particular station for a mediocre price instead. The profit from the sale is your reward, as is the ship itself. I think the mission progresses the same way no matter what you do, but honestly I’ve never tried it.
As for the “Transfer wares” button, that only works between ships and stations that you own. It allows you to move cargo without caring about buy and sell orders, and without reference to price. It would actually be dangerous to use it against NPC stations, as you would be able to give them goods that they do not want. You would also be able to fill up their storage with junk so that they have no room for the goods that they need or are producing themselves. You could stall out a shipyard by supplying it with millions of cheap energy cells so that it no longer had room for any hull parts, for example. If you do that to your own shipyard then you have only yourself to blame.
1. This thread is one year old
2. You had another mission
3. The wares you had wasn't in your ship's cargo but in your personal inventory. I assume it was one of those missions which ask you to deliver First Aid Kits which you can either buy from station vendors, craft at the workbench next to station vendors or collect by opening security containers floating in the space. (or by destroying mass traffic?)
And since this item is in your personal inventory, you had to deliver the items in person.
My apologies, your majesty, for commenting on something a year barely 6 months old. It takes very little effort to not be an ass in a reply, even if you do have a point.
