Once you're rolling in trillions of credits later, you'll be dropping advanced satellites like you're bowling at full speed.
Simply put you don't need them other than for the Xenon which you should use them for. But for trading and making credits? No. Your miners and traders should have trading extensions so when they're in a sector they act as satellites and you don't need them and you certainly don't need them when you get to 20 rep and buy their trade routes which shows you trade data on every station a faction owns even if you haven't discovered it. You can gain rep very quickly now just by doing a few missions and having miners in their sectors and using your own traders from your station that are near to that faction.
It's never been easier to gain rep in this game. Enjoy it while it lasts as I'm sure it's not intended.
SCA L ships for example. Combine coverage with a custom alert and you'll always know when a free ship appears.
