They also sell security slicers etc. These are used for hacking stations which can earn you lots of credits. You can't buy these anywhee else and you will find some in drops from destroyed ships mainly Xenon, but they can be quite rare.
Should be a freeport in Heretic's End where you start. Can be hard to find, but it is there. Another is in Grand Exchange. One of those sectors and another in Silent Witness 11 and 12. Second Contact 7 should have one? They sometimes get destroyed. Those are the closest to where you start. There's one or two in the new pirate sectors, but you will be attacked when you enter those so make sure you have a decent ship for that. That's all I can think of?
What I do is research teleportation until you can jump anywhere on the map and then leave a cheap ship in all those pirate ports/stations and just tele in with no dramas. It takes a while to afford to do that, but it's well worth it. I also do this for every faction rep. Saves a lot of travelling. A bare bones courier costs about 200,000 credits? That's what I use.
