How the ♥♥♥♥ do i find lodestone?

Tried camping near miner ships.
Tried manually shoot crystals in asteroids.
Tried to trade for them.

No luck.

Been at it for a few hours now and I'm getting bored.

Shoot the tiny nodes on asteroid while in scan mode

buy some from pirate station

Wait in an active mining sector

I don't think crystal give lodestone

Use the scanner [Shift]+[2] to detect mining nodes on asteroids and shoot these nodes, some of them will drop lodestones. (Check the mini radar screen for the white box of loot boxes.)

I had the opposite problem as you. I was wondering why containers full of lodestone and other materials kept popping up but I figured it out at the time.

I'm not sure if it still works, but my headquarters was in a mining field where it's miners would constantly destroy asteroids and the asteroids would spit out loot containers a % of the time.

I am doing this, but i have yet do find any lodestone. I do get a lot of other stuff though.

After you destroy the node, the lodestone often appears inside the asteroid, so it's really important to keep an eye on the radar and use the ship's magnet [O] to fish them.

Usualy its easy to find them but right now in my new gamestart after 7.0 I have not found them and I need them for the Hatikvah mission. Very strange that I can't find any of them at all. I'm already searching for 3 hours

If you still need them I found 2 of them on the teladi pirates station in silent witness

I stumbled on a different mission "Scientific Expedition" so have been occupied with that, but i will try silent witness as soon as I'm done.

Find sector with Astroid fields. Shift 2... look for tiny rocks on the surface of big rocks... and shoot tiny rocks. It's complete RNG what the tiny rocks turn into.

If things get too difficult, without otherwise cheating, create a custom budgeted start, add lodestone to your inventory, and fill up with more than you will ever need as they're so cheap by themselves.

An interesting fact, the combination of a lodestone, remote detonator, and secure container is 20512 a unit. The spacesuit EMP bombs you can craft from this set are worth about 120000 a unit and can be sold to a freeport or black market trader for close to this price. Ka-ching, baby! From this, I can understand why they might have wanted to make lodestone hard to find in spite its low price on the market.

Without restarting, the fastest way to find lodestone is to scan asteroids and shoot the nodes off them. Most of the time you'll be getting ore or silicon only, but the occasional batch of spacefly eggs, unstable crystals, and lodestones does make it lucrative enough to get started on a more passive income. After 7.0 hit I actually stopped stressing over lodestone and spacefly eggs that much, even though the do appear to be harder to get.

God man this game sure just does not want me to find one of these supposedly very easy to find things and it's a real drag. I'm just trying to have fun here.

Likewise I've no idea what I'm supposed to be doing here. I've tried hanging around what I think are prime mining areas but there are either no mining ships flying around or they seem to be in transit to some other place. Tried going to Silent Witness pirate base but they don't sell them. I've been shooting the crystals off asteroids, but it doesn't tell me what it is when I target it and I don't seem to be able to pick it up anyway (am I supposed to get a different ship for this?).

This game is beyond frustrating at this point.
