how many ships do you actually need to destroy stations?
My fleet attacked the vig ice refinery with 7 Osakas, 1 Syn and one Zeus E. Every ship died...
So I spawned like 20 Asgards and it took like 20minutes. Do you srsly need so many capital ships?

Are you using coordinated attack? Set all the ships in a fleet to do a coordinated attack and they should be able to take it down. I'm assuming you've already dealt with the swarms of fighters that are going to come after you.

I clicked on the commander and the right clicked on station to attack. They got really close to it and then died to the plasma turrets and missiles (I think, I was not in the sector). The vig fighter fleet came wayyy later, my ships were already gone.
Mixing in torpedo bombers can help. Nemeses are great at this role.

If all else fails, use science. Make sure you bring enough science to use it twice, though.

Yep, that's what happens when you use the normal attack. If you select the fleet, then right click on the target and select coordinated attack, the whole fleet will make a big circle and then close into max range and start firing the main guns. It takes some time to do the setup but it works MUCH better.

They still do get stupid from time to time, trying to find an angle to attack from that isn't blocked by destroyed station bits, so keep an eye on them. If one does a bad thing, you can teleport in and help or just tell the ship to flee.

I always use around 4 to 5 destroyer (my preference is the behemoth when against commonwealth station because plasma)
Spread them out around the station and then press attack or coordinated attack

Always succeed with this formula no matter the AI

Normal station doesn't have that much HP thankfully compare to Xenon station

What destroyers need is breathing room funny enough
The less large ship that around them the more they do well.
This is why mod that increase weapon range does so well because they have more room to adjust so they act better

My prefer composition is 4 destroyer 1 carrier and then a fighters made up of interceptors & bomber

VIG is very difficult if you go in there with L-ships.

I allowed myself to have fun in my save game and conquer all the Vig sectors in this plot and am standing in front of Union Summit with 100 S-ships, a carrier, 8x L-ships and that's not nearly enough, there are so many S-ships in this sector. Ships from VIG that wipe out my entire fleet. I'm going to go in there soon with 200 s-ships and clean up and then I'll send my l-ships after them so that they don't burst in the first 10 minutes.
I even tried cluster mines, but they are completely useless. xD

Here is the EZ way for you to make the plot quick and easy.

1. pay the 15 mil on the satellite
2. place ships in front of the station before you have vig as an enemy.
(100 s-ships in front of the station and 2 to 3 l-ships or 3-5 l-ships without the 100 ships)
3. Jump into the sector as soon as you have the quest to destroy the station. attack the station as soon as it is destroyed. becomes friendly and the spook is over.

If you have no way to prepare for this and VIG is already hostile, 2x L-ships and around 100x S-ships are sufficient. Defeating VIG with only L-ships is difficult, especially if you don't use missiles with L-ships but only "flak"

Union Summit 5-10 fps fights with R7 7800X3D+7800XTX. so many ships r in this damn sector...simply ridiculous

Not tried myself, but about 100 S-ships with Heavy Torpedos should be enough for the station alone the station wouldn't last long.

lol that funny thing was that I was boosting the economy of vig with thousands of hull parts and materials before the quest.

I'm doing a vig eradication right now. Using 20 Syns and two Asgards and divide and conquer method. Fighter swarms were easy if you put some of those L Turrets as Argon lasers.
I tried and tried and tried to make peace with Vig. I was trying to do as many missions as possible to keep from going red. They kept randomly going hostile to me even I would disable all my stations turrets and docked my police. Enough was enough, I tried and you are now going extinct because you cannot get along with anyone.

Oh forgot to mention my tip. I never got Coordinated attack to work any better than regular attack as it seems to have the same outcome except you have those cool looking circles around the fleet. I still lose Syns.
The most effective way I found to attack stations with ZERO loss is to attack like normal then as soon as you see your ship get hit (it wiggles) remove the attack command and let it sit there. It will stay pointed at the station and fire. After some time you may need to repeat the process as modules maybe out of range.
