The flee logic still suck
My M trader is getting harassed by a pirate ship right in front of a gate to other sector (oos). instead of fleeing through the gate like any sane person would do, he instead did no such thing. he just ran away to anywhere that's not a gate and got destroyed by the pirate cause the pirate is faster than him.

the flee logic for freighters working in avarice suck as well, sometimes they don't flee at all and got fried by the sun explosion thing instead. don't remind me to mod them cause this is a new save and everything should work just fine if the flee logic actually work as intended.

does flee logic actually get tied to piloting skill level as well? cause that explains so much about the sucky fleeing behaviour i've experienced cause it's a new save and everyone is still at level one
Let me explain one thing... The game has crappy AI in a lot of in-game situations. Something gets improved/fixed in newer versions, something gets broken, something gets quite minor changes. You may rant, you may abandon playing or may found workarounds keeping bad AI in mind. That won't change, no matter how many and often complaints community make.

As for traders you can:
- set them to comply and drop off cargo. Better than nothing, since money isn't really a problem in the game, but time you spend on babysitting AI is.
- use Barbarossa as an L trader (which is considered as a military ship and doesn't get scanned by pirates), use Split M Boa with Split combat/travel engine MK3. Additionally you may want to install speed mods above. Yes, its quite tedious but its one time effort since it makes Boa almost invulnerable OOS.
- obtain peace treaty with pirates (reputation). Terraform Scale Plate Green, you don't really have to achieve all terraforming goals. Reputation with SCA gets unlocked after first made project, then you may abandon terraforming and proceed in increasing rep further by completing SCA missions.
Split FAF -> look for FAF missions at FRF station dataleaks.
VIG -> repeat orders trading + station missions.
YAK -> really only a problem in the beginning of the new game, then they run out of resources and become almost harmless.

As for Avarice: either use L traders or install hazardous damage reduction mod. Yes, you've asked to not remind you that, but shaking the air won't help you. Mod will.

Once again no sense in complaining. Most likely none of major issues will be addressed before game become abandoned cause of X5 development.

Um, did you see the changelog in the ongoing beta?
Bendak May 7, 2024 @ 8:05am
Dont expect much from this game AI.

I find it really stupid to have a fleet of traders parked near the VIG Keepsafe, for some reason they drop a lot of water on space, one of your pilots decide it is a good idea to collect the water and the keepsafe turns red killing all ships nearby...

So far i have not find a way to disable this behaviour. So i just blacklist the VIG sector.

i would be happy when i could set "ignore" the Pirates as standard

No. I'm quoting random text all around and by mystical reason it matches snippet of changelog.

already planning to do all those and those thing are still far away for some time, cause, you know, new save and all. those 500k for low end M trader might be chump change for late game save, but you know, for first few hours of gameplay it's still a fortune and every m ships you lost means hours wasted doing taxi quests, cause, you know, new save.

this might be the best idea for avarice but they sell hull part for so cheap.....

apparently the developer is aware of this problem and are currently trying to fix it according to the forum, so that's a good thing going on, for now i'll pause everytime a pirate is about to attack and change orders accordingly.
more micromanagement I guess

You may become multimillionaire in first 20 minutes cause of, you know, make PIO freelancer with a lot of deployables onboard surrender or sell free Odysseus or reselling stuff from Equipment dock to Wharf or numerous other ways to boost your wallet in the beginning and not tremble about losing crappy trader or giveaway it's cargo.
I'm able to become multibillionaire within first 24 hours. With proper optimizations I guess time can be reduced to several hours cause of, you know, experience.

If you want suffering and ranting its your legal right.

dont want to and dont care, you do your cheaty millionaire gig, i do mine, anyone can play their game however the heck they want it to be, cause you know, sandbox and all. i play my current game as a honest hardworking teladi trade tycoon and try to efficiently set up my trade bases with calculation and stuff, I can sure act like one and be a grumpy old lizard everytime my hard earned ship gets blown up by pirates casue the dude I hired has the brain the size of a pea.

yeah? i set it to flee and deploy laser tower currently and added some tower to my trader inventory, seem to be working quite ok so far. if i use the judgement thing, most of time they will go all gung ho and attack the attacker even when they are inside a trade ship. not sure how it came to that so i don't use that command anymore

the funny thing about the new deploy laser tower when fleeing thing is that they will deploy their laser tower when they are fleeing, so the laser tower is literally being flung forward across space and ends up somewhere else within the vicinity.
I'ts funny so I'm not complaining
