another way is to have your bomb selected and manually triggering it while inside the ship with the interaction menu
What your trying to do is weird though as there hacking for sabotaging a station that last much longer then your simple bomb trick
(admittedly, there was a time were it was effective.. for removing admin modules in a happy little accident... but that has been changed since.)
you can use those bombs to demolish surface mounts in a whim if you are not yet at bad relations with the station because the station may turn hostile the moment the first surface element explodes... while it can be multiple small elements with one bomb.
however...
sabotaging a station by using a security decription thingy on one of the terminals in the engineering section will guarantee that the station ceases to function for a couple ouf hours.
compared to a blown up module wich can be restored within 20 minutes thats a much better outcome.
so, no.. thats not a bug... its a false assumption on how to sabotage a station.
if you want to cause damage.. bombs and mines are the way to go short term... if you want to disable a station with a virus.. its hacking a terminal.
if you want to remove the competition permanently.. you also take the reputation hit and simply get rid of the station... permanently.
You have the option to use mines as dropped bombs: https://youtu.be/e7b66yf8RJ4
