Miners in "The Void" Blowing Up
Any way to tell my miners automatically not to go into the dangerous area of the void? I have them set to "mine for station"

Should be able to set a blacklist and one of the options will be hazardous regions. Then give that to your station / miners.

You can block the system completely via global rules: Player->Global Rules->Create blacklist->choose Sector Activities (ship wont mine in the system) or Sector Travel(ship will avoid the system)->Add or Remove Sector-> and mark Void->Save blacklist. After that go to your miner ship Individual Instructions->Find Sector Activities under blacklists-> remove dot from global setting -> choose the created blacklist.
The second way is to not use M-S miners in the void. Only L miners with tier 3 Large shields (like terrans or borons) have shield regeneration enough to overcome the system's area damage, for example, you can use terran L miners equipped with tier 3 shields.

wait, but if I add void to my blacklist doesn't that mean my gas miners can't mine there anymore?
I'm there for the methane

Either mod all those ships for hazard damage or use L ships with decent shield regen then. You can't tell them to avoid just the hazard area. They already do that by default, but if an order (like mine or explore) takes them directly into it, they will just accept death.

You can't filter to specific areas of a system, only blacklist the entire system.

The Void Solution
Option 1. Place a storage depot high above the radiation zones. This allows your miners to fly well above the danger zones to deliver ore/gas.
Have your other miners pick up the ore/gas to deliver as traders to your stations outside the sector.

Option 2, use L miners using drones while you are not in system, or M Miners whose shields regenerate above 546 per second. Their shield will not drop, their hulls will go undamaged.

Option 3, I have not tried, using Stork Auxiliary ships to repair the miners. This might work if you assign them to protect the miner or maybe follow the miner. As long as you are not in system the repair drone should not die because just like the L Miners Mining drones, they do not actually deploy while you are not in system. Theoretically Option 3 should work.

Option 2 for Manticore (tugs) is the only viable option for them as they will always fly into the radiation zones to get the wrecks, sadly I was not aware of the radiation and many brave crews kept dying even as I watched but I did not know why. The glowing green rocks floating are highly radioactive, they wipe your shields then hull, if their shields cannot regenerate fast enough and they are slow like a Tug towing a wreck through a radiation belt to a station their commander placed in said belt, they are going to die blaming you their commander. Now I know at least. I could put better shields on them but only like one in 40 trips are destroyed, so its is easier to just build a S/M Ship fab so their soon to be wreck will be towed back to the Radio(active) station and get rebuilt faster than in was destroyed, sure, will need a new crew but at 0% crew generation for The Void, that is easily done in closed loop.

You can avoid The Void also, but Domino's might sue.

Just got done checking on Manticore shield upgrade, rebuilding is the only way as the best shield is .47 delay with 77 recharge means 145.4 recharge per second. There is always adding the hazard mod (in game mod you can make in game, not some mod from Steam) to each of them, stops 100% hazard damage, have not tried it, easier to just keep rebuilding them than to destroy and rebuild my station in different location on higher altitude than the radiation field.

Frankly I love the void, and every last station I have in the void is in radioactive belt, Getsu will be my capital if I ever decide to knock Ant out of it, Xenon are a great source of salvage in the Void, more so if they attack my stations. Radiation damage might be speeding their demise.

One of the most fun things, aiding the Xenon by disabling the defensive ability of others they are fighting by hacking their stations, allowing the sectors you want to be over run, once the friendly admins are knocked out, and the xenon do not have admin there, you are the controller of the sector without attacking your "friends" directly. Keeping Xenon out is super easy with L Argon plasma turrets and M Flak stations coupled with Boron weapon stations to slow them down, both all around gates and if they get past that, they will not get past the boron Ion weapon S mixed fast fighter fleet. Fast fighters to stop their drives and slow their maneuvering, slow heavy fighters can more effectively argon plasma them to scrap.

I used L miners and assigned an auxiliary ship to a big Terran resource factory I had in The Void. They seemed to operate safely after that. I'm sure the auxiliary was overkill, but at least the miners didn't have to leave the sector to replace any drones lost to the radiation hazard, I guess, theoretically.

In addition to the suggestions above, you can use "repeat orders" on your miners and order them to mine at a safe spot.

I did fail to mention that part.
