You could spend that with lesser or less important factions who take money rather than standing to unlock the good modules / ships but best to just do faction standing with the bigger factions, whoever you choose and then unlock the better ships modules with just your standing, so you get to spend the money on actual good stuff like ships, military modules etc, even good blueprints.

trade/missions. You only need to get to 10 before you can buy some decent military ships. Before that, the Argon scout is decent enough with just mk2 equipment and mk3 shields -- the Discoverer. The best scout class ship is the Lux imo.

Generally, you want to get out of the starter ship in the first 15 minutes of the game. But that depends on the start.

funny, you might think 10 million dollar is lot of money but for long time player like me, it's just tiny, not enough for my personal goal, do you know how much for headquarter and mega station cost? Fill whole fleet of asgrad? It's over something like 10 billion, not million to set up in start of game.

I already reached those level again and again, I did try budget, best I can do is reach 500,000 million or 700,000 million even that is not enough, but I prefer already build mega station and headquarter, but custom budget game start won't let me had, because it's cap couple million dollar value where I prefer had mega station, do you know how long it's took build in real life? Let said up to 2 week let game running all the time, day and night in real life.

So I prefer allowed start whole mega build up in start of game way I want because I already reached it, but not want let my computer running all day and night even when I'm away from computer to get mega station build done.

A good way to build standing is buying mining vessels, M size, and command them to sector mine, once you find a good spot that has ore / silicon / ice mining station in it belonging to the faction you want, this way is slow but very profitable.

Another way is just doing missions from whatever faction you like, or a simple boring way is to sit at a station and kill the little criminal ships that spawn, this way is fast but not very fun, It could get you to 10 standing without being too boring i suppose.

When you trade Inventory items with a Station Trader [one at every Dock] you can sell stuff the Trader will pay well for; Buy more stuff the Trader is selling cheap; do a bit of intermediate trade between 2 Traders at different docks on the same station.

Then fly to another local Dock and do the same.

10M will soon multiply

ADDITIONAL : I forgot to say those small trades will add Reputation to you... if you are not too greedy. The better offer your deals are the more rep you gain. The more rep you have the cheaper the Faction will sell to you and the higher your rank gets and therefore your access to a Factions military wares - including big ships , eventually

I recommend buying a half dozen courier and small mining ships, and setting them to automine and autotrade in various sectors that have shipyards and wharfs. This will make you a lot of money and their trading will boost your faction standings quickly.

Another way to boost your standings quickly is to fly your ship nearby NPC stations. Every minute or two you'll hear them yelling about criminal vessels. Target it and destroy it (and be careful not to hit the station or other civilian ships) and it will raise your reputation quickly. Important for the factions that hate you too much to trade at all!

10 millions is not a lot of money. I mean, yes you can kill criminal arround station to rank up your rep with factions and buy a better military ship.... But.... After? Everyone play like they want, that's the point of this game. But military and war cost A LOT of money. I prefer starting to build my economy and 'trading empire' with some military and once I have a good 'passive' income, starting to buy full military...

My advice : Spend your 10 millions into miners (it's like 600k each, or something like that). Find a safe sector and you can protect it by yourself. When you get 20m, buy a big miners... And a other, and a other. A lot of fighters to protect everything, more miners, stations etc etc etc.

Why pay for them when i can just buy warships and borrow them ?
Cuz it's faster, cheaper, and easier than stealing them.

You have to raise your reputation with the faction you wish to buy ships from. Trade for them, complete missions, kill enemies in that faction's sector, etc.

Do you have your police license yet? I believe that gives you extra rep (and credits) for killing enemies.

In the meantime, invest the credits that you have into something that will make you even more credits (and rep), unless you really enjoy your starter ship. You could hire some extra traders, for example. Rep is by exchange not by value, so multiple small traders will raise rep faster than one large trade ship. Let those NPCs do the work for you while you continue to take out bad guys, and you'll level up soon enough so you can buy your first large warship.

Because it will be a lot faster, and you already have the money. And the miners will rank up your rep automaticly. And if you get it by the force, you can have military trouble with security and you realize you have 0 money, 0 income and just a military ship almost destroyed with everyone who want to kill you...

But if you want to use a military ship, you do like you want. You ask for advice to spend your first millions, that was mine. I prefer to invest it to earn more money later.

Well, 10 millions is not alot. But it is enough to start a small business somewhere if you are interested in that. You could start a mining business with a basic large miner that you can afford (you can upgrade it as you play). You can let it mine as you do missions in and around that sector so you are not too far away if it gets attacked.

Otherwise you can work on reputation with a faction that you like with more missions to get access to better things and not to forget getting better prices everywhere on each station they control.

get into small business like a water station near ice to start.. create an economic engine, then just have unlimited ships.

I wouldn't bother. 10 million is enough to buy a bunch of marines to start capturing ships that are not for sale at any price with any reputation level. One Terran Asgard can kill any ship in game in one shot with its delete ray.

One Terran Asgrad kill any ship in game do not efficiency profit in long term, Asgrad is there to keep miner and station safe from any threat, miner and mega station is one doing profit! Not Asgard, Asgard is good defense in OOS at least but not good offense as I lost lot of Asgard fleet time to time. But I never lost in my personal Asgard but it's was take forever to take out station, even with so called delete ray, like 30 min to one hours, pew, wait then pew, then wait then pew, so it's not efficiency so I find carrier and swam of fighter is far more efficiency take out station, so it's good offense.

Asgard is there to guard profit, not making profit, beside you can't get Asgrad in game start after all, then if you playing good person, buying blueprint, set up mega station to product Asgrad, it's took 1 to 2 billion to start out, I recall, but it's been while since, I was busying playing other game like anno 1800, starfield, I might return to X4 later, I recalled they are planning add new DLC after Timelines, (they did said they would not make same as Timelines, so next DLC would be forced on sandbox gameplay improve area. I think, Unless i'm mistake.
