This DLC is a line I simply cannot cross.

Why would you make a DLC with the mechanics nobody likes? Why would you make a DLC with the mechanics that are based on the worse parts of the game?

It makes no sense...

This was simply the last straw for me, and trust me, I know it hurts me more than it hurts you.

I want to give you my money, but my blood pressure is more important than 'supporting' bad practices.

Please speak for yourself. The DLC is about story missions, this one was very clear from the start. And there are people out there enjoying X series stories & lore.

If people can get beyond the "it is no sandbox" they could realize that those short scenarios are well done and the DLC even compromises to enrich the sandbox by the unlockables (which should be cheatable for sandbox players as well by simply editting a txt file).

The patch 7.0 is massive in size and features (new sectors, new ships, new enemies, new crisis mechanic, ...). So EVERYBODY not liking the new DLC gets catered as well, Egosoft put A LOT of work into both things.

If anything, the DLC customers should be upset because all the NON-Buyers get so much without paying. Maybe all those people out there swinging pitchforks right now should reflect on that ...

You're being a bit of a drama queen don't you think? It's a DLC that adds a campaign mode to provide new players with an expanded tutorial and veterans with more story lore. It is clearly labeled as such. You can just not buy it if you don't want it but it's not a bad practice or anything of the sort. The update includes a lot of free stuff too. I don't see anything to be upset about here.

Okay ... then please explain the story part behind racing between asteroids and shooting hords of ships with underpowered slow ships. Seriously, I really want to understand it. The DLC is focusing on things egosoft is not good at, they good at making a sandbox game, cool looking ships etc.. They have never been good at telling story, even though in the sandbox some of the plots are actually very good, also they make you work towards a goal, in this DLC you do stuff you already do in the sandbox except here it is for free since you don't earn credits, objects etc...

Also the voice acting in french is beyond bad, at this point only make english available which I switched to.

I'm playing X games since X Beyond the frontier and buy multiple copies of each of their games, including collector editions and the X super box. As an "old gamer" I of course buy my games @GOG where I truly own them with no strings attached.

Unlike you, I own the game and every single DLC except this last one. You can clearly see this by the mouse icon near the names of the people who own the game.

The update is indeed awful though. No QOL improvements but we get glowing text. No strategy layer improvements but we get xenon spawn script. And DLC that adds isolated story missions to a sandbox game.

Dude consider touching the grass and taking sunbaths in summer to regulate that health problems of yours. Optional payed content does not require you to have elevated blood pressure.
