That and seeing the XM0. 1999 is calling. And I am answering.
I expect the old X shuttle to be a pale specter of its former glory, but lets face it, its former glory was outrunning a Pegasus, turning on a dime, punching like an Asgard, and could fit the Erlking in its cargo hold. No, I'm not exaggerating.
It really is. The HEPT's are the only thing named that is the same, but you get 6 instead of 2 and they tickle instead of punch. The shields are S shields instead of the XL capital ships you could fit. It rotates fine and travel mode is less painful than before, but it doesn't translate its dominance into X4. You can even fail the first mission with it on the first group of Xenon fighters if they aggro at the same time.
I'm having HUD issues too where I can't see shields and hull during the Timelines campaign, so failing is a frequent occurrence if the shield warning doesn't sound.
This really was a gut punch to the series, as they're re-writing history with a worse version of it.
I mean, when you first began BTF the thing had no guns, the hull was tissue paper and you had to get out and push to get anywhere. I expected to have to build it up again but that would have been a labor of love. I couldnt realistically expect to mount capital gear but it was supposed to be a heavy fighter, I would have liked to at least have been able to mount M gear on it.

Regardless, the ship itself is a shadow of what it was and reducing it down just to fit the high score minigame isn't fun. The ship had a jump core in an S class hull. At the very least that should have been enough to justify giving it more powerful gear. I get that the design philosophy changed for X2, but it still makes the mission taste like sour 'memberberries.
Haven't played the older versions of X. But the feeling of that fighter it feels overpowered. Can't pinpoint exactly why but it has to do with the boost of the ship, it almost feels like
short range mini teleportation. And the only thing on my mind was if i get that ship in the open universe am going to mod it's guns with cooling speed and basically have a constant teleport of hot plasma to my enemy :) that ship was such a pleasant surprise for me.
That was one of its things yeah, the other one was that it could mount ANY shield (including 200mw ones, those would be L shields), and ANY weapon. So yeah, it should feel OP because the OG was.

If the balancing is not the same and is worst this will be something like... telling a five years old "Hey it's Christmas but Santa Claus ain't coming with gifts." xD

its decent but has pretty weak shielding... speaking of shielding... With the research for the new ships i unlocked M Frontier shields Mk1 Mk2 and Mk3. Presumably for the Odachi. But even with those tech unlocked when i go to build a Odachi on my wharf i can only put M Frontier shield mk1 on it. when you guys make another pass to fix the Odachi upside down turrets can you please make it so it can equip those M Frontier MK2 and Mk3 shields? cause right now its only got half the shield of a Katana.
did a quick check and i can use the M Frontier mk2 and mk3 shield on the Sapporo turrets. so its only the Odachi that cant use them.
