I got no stock in the company. Not going to convince you one way or the other what to do or what to play. Most of us just play this to mess around... no one plays this game for the story.
Need help... I can do that... but opinions don't matter to me. Not gonna convince you to play a game you don't want to play.
I enjoy the economy aspect of the game, filling the faction economy shortages so their wars get more intense & often pick plot outcomes that increase the level of conflict in the game.
However, I get that isn't fun for everyone and that's why we have so many diverse space games.
but you need to get there. Your not even dones with the tutorial to be honest.
Also this is a Sandbox games. You can have wars and space battles and dog fights or mass capital ship fights if you want.
But you either need to build up an economy for it so you can make your own fleets or help Some factions wage war and just buy fleets of Ships from them.
I don't think this game is made for exploring and doing missions I think the game is completely tailored as an Space auction house simulator in order to build an empire so anything that has to do with the player piloting their ship is not even mediocre is worse than that and it has to be because you are probably supposed to send autopiloted ships to do this lame missions like removing mines...
I gave it a chance, I am 12 hours into it, 6 hours were me dealing with the terrible UI and awful new player experience, I installed the Beta because of the changes to UI and new tutorials, I am playing the game and I find nothing to do, I am even willing to do one of those boring "remove mines" missions but nothing is popping, so I don't know what am I supposed to do, just sit and wait if something happens? thats boring, the content for a player that just wants to pilot a ship, explore and things like that is bad, hell even if I wanted to play the auction house simulator and build "muh empire" I couldn't just because there is nothing to do, I am just not finding anything to do at all, no missions are appearing.
One of the things you definitely want to do is get your station from bosa-ta (or whatever his name is) for the teleportation technology (and ships mods, but whatever).
I like to fight the xenon asap... keep them from expanding singlehandedly. Or at least, that's what I tell myself... they mostly suicide against npc stations. But at least I can pick up the loot. I really like the S vigor ships (the lux is a blast to fly, especially modded, and the shih is just such a great ship with split engines), so getting 10 rep with them is also a little goal I have at the beginning. And the Gorgon M ship... so, that's rep with paranid. And I like the option of putting split engines on ships... And terran shields... yeah I like to be friends with everyone. But none of those things are "told" to me by the game -- I had to find the things in the game that I liked, that were fun, and go do them on my own.
The missions you get while flying around aren't really the meat of the game... they're just the stuff you do when you're out of cash (like at the very beginning) or wanna build rep with a faction. You can get other missions by scanning stations that often pay better, but usually give no rep because they're for the "criminal" faction... The hacking missions a have a decent payout imo. The space caviar ones are great, but rare. But not too far into the game, even the missions that can payout a couple million might not be worth doing... or at least not something you'll jump at because you're more engaged in whatever personal plan/project you're doing. Teleportation helps a bunch with the missions that require you to be at a specific place (hacking), but many don't and can actually be done by subordinates.
Do you have the HQ yet ?
Move out of the Sol sectors find more Gates Explore arround the Universe and sectors of other factions.
The Story missions and Story events will start to pop up.
So far it feels like your not even trying and Sandbox games are 100% not for you to be honest.
ALSO THIS. try other Factions starts. some of them Starts deeper inside the Core sectors you gonna have more content near you. And things will pop faster.
Terrans are pretty Isolated thats their Niche
🤷♂️ not my problem
OP there is a LOT more to this game, however you must be the type of player capable of thinking for yourself, seeing and seizing opportunities. Do not expect the game to hand you missions. The missions... are a fraction of the content. Dominating the Universe is on you to figure out how you wish to approach this--as there are many ways to accomplish this or other goals!
You can...
a) Wipe out the Xenons
b) Ignore the Xenons and wipe out a faction like the filthy Terrans
c) Undermine economies
d) Boost economies of a faction or factions that you like and watch as they devour your least favorite scum
e) Be a filthy pirate underlord and reign havoc down on whoever you please
f) Save the Universe from annihilation!
g) Don't care and exist as a humble Mc. Burgers chain operator
If you are not self-driven and motivated, then you should probably stick with lesser titles that hold your hand and tell you what to do with a good little employee mindset. This is a game for entrepreneurs and leaders.
p.s. Those boring missions? You can hire employees and ships to do those missions for you. Or better yet... you can build your own business empire, complete with shipyards, and pump out workers and assign them to the busy work... like those pesky player missions!
!] It most certainly is set up for exploring.
2] 12 Hours into it? I can promise you; you have barely touched the game. I advocate a min
of 50 hours but strongly recommend 100
3] Learn how to do more than one thing at a time and have fun scoring reputation with competition
I don't see any exploration whatsoever.
If a game doesn't capture you for the first 2 houts at worse there is something wrong with the game anyone saying that a game gets fun "50 hours in" is just wrong.
For a Story driven game, that would be true.
For this sandbox game, you would need more than 2 hours to enjoy it.
