Boarding Xenon H is too hard .
I send 16 "elite" marines to Xenon H , 14 "elite" marines is dead ...
Except for terraforming , it is very difficult to raise marines to be elites ...
I don't think the reward is worth it .

Wait, so what exactly are the marines fighting when they board?

Automated defense system/killbots.

We are tracking feedback to see if it requires further balancing. Note: it is supposed to be hard to capture one by boarding.

Boron plush toy was not my cup of tea, but I would feel killbot plush toy :xenoterror:

Yah feel that it should be balanced a bit more for elite marine

I feel like losing a couple should be normal but losing 90 percent of the squad hurts especially how hard it is to train marine since you need to board or do terraforming training

Ah... Ok, that makes sense.

The ship really isn't good enough to justify such a high cost in marine power, if its gonna be that difficult to get it needs some buffs to make the ship worth while.

It's basically just a low volume multi-type freighter. which makes it even worse because the thing is so weak it gets popped by whatever tiny force you have ordered to board before marines even get to it.

It is, in fact, the only L ship in vanilla that can solo a K in high attention without player assistance.

Just curious have you tried Odysseus (or may be even Rattlesnake) with main guns switched off or without at all + all turrets are plasma + 10 defense drones?
70 drones helps a lot, but may be the issue comes from the main battery?

Can the Syn not solo a K in the AI's hands? It seems like the answer for a K. 8 L turrets and a good hull/shield combo.
I wouldn't know, as I don't think it's a good use case, so I've never tested for this. While K do travel solo, they often don't.
If I want my AI to take on anything up to a K, then I send a carrier with 10 corvettes onboard, and maybe 12 fighters.

It can at least from my testing but it lack of M turret usually mean the endless stream of fighters that usually accompany those K then to make things difficult with the Syn one engine
Apex Artist Jun 12, 2024 @ 3:47pm
That's kinda what I'm saying.
If a well dressed Syn walks into a bar and finds a solo K messing with his girl, the Syn can handle him. Both the Syn and the K can travel with backup, so why wouldn't the player give the Syn backup.
The statement was that the H is *the only L ship* that can solo a K without player input, and I think there's at least one other L ship that could. (Rattlesnake comes up a bit short in the hull/shield equation, and for my tastes, so does the H) Now, which would do better with a K and 12-15 Xenon S/M ships? Perhaps the solo vanilla Syn loses that battle to the solo H, but you will not catch my Syns out on their own, so it's a moot point for me.
(edit to add because I wanted to double check): For those up for using mods, the Syn battleship has 15 well placed M turrets, when using the moreturrets mod, while keeping its quite reasonable 8 L turrets.
The Syn and the Zeus are two ships that keep that mod in my extensions folder. I just don't think it's logical to develop a weapons platform of this scale, and not have every system involved well balanced, and it happens that I have more than 20 years in military aviation to base my related opinions on.

Considering the performance of this ship and the maximum number of crew members, I felt that 1600 was too much.
When you send in the maximum number of 2-star marines, it's around 630, so I think 800 or 700 would be just right.

Frankly Xenon ships in the current vanilla game are just trophies. They don't have the utility to justify the effort it takes to obtain them if you meant to put them to any actual use, in which they might die. Maybe if you were playing with the reverse engineering mod then it might be different, assuming that still works.

Yeah, but ship built in mind that it has no crew
I would imagine that it wouldn't even have corridors to begin with
Just small tunnels for maintenance drones, but it's just si-fi thinking lol
