How can we improve games AI in 7.00 - 7.20
We must remember that X4 is a 3D game. More missions
Some suggestions ?
We need a beacon that says when a red dot appears on the map.
I would love to hear from you all. :steamhappy:

We make a list of game ai, so egosoft knows what we would like.
It is up to egosoft whether we get what we want.

Bug fixing to make the game playable would be nice ....

Click map target zoom and unhittable criminal station traffic would be an amazing start of fixes. Would not cry over teleport stuck in elevator and failure to appear merchants being fixed either.

  • Destroyers need a complete overhaul.
    The problem of them not firing main guns needs seriously attending to. Re-design them to have more powerful XL turrets (increase in number and firepower) and/or have designs with side main batteries (port and starboard). A much better default AI response/reaction and some more player commands is needed: a *fire from current position* order at the very least.

  • AI pilots need to have much more awareness of weapon load-outs, weapon ranges and 3D space so they don't just spin around/yoyo around like idiots.

  • AI pilots need to be able to utilise travel drives and engines much more effectively so that they stay in groups and travel to destinations properly. The current nonsense of them crawling after targets is particularly ridiculous.

  • Combat ships assigned to protect targets like miners needs to be made to work properly so that they actually stay in close range to their protected target and actually engage hostile ships that are attacking their protected targets.

  • Non combat ship flee orders needs to have some sense. If they have radar then they can see when hostile ships are close by and need to flee to a logical safe area (ie the nearest friendly station or ship or defence force of combat ships).

a command - stand your ground an look for red dots - yes 4-5 star pilot maybe. i like that.

At the very least destroyers need a siege mode/command like eve imo. Makes them stationary and gives increased range and potentially defensive/offensive boosts. The command will front face the target, get to about 90% max range and then lockdown and only use main battery.

The dps of station gravitons combined with the incredibly inept AI is extremely frustrating. If a destroyer gets too close because the AI is being dumb then you rarely have time to notice and definitely not enough time to react. Even the best ship will go down in seconds.

Hell at this point I'd take a completely specialized ship that is only for station busting and completely worthless vs everything else. The asgard can kind of be this but it's still pretty slow to kill stations imo.

I would like to see the mod auto restock subordinates made into the game properly. If they refuse to fix their AI, than at least remove the task of us figuring out what ship died and what they were doing and let it auto rebuild.

I was rather surprised there's no super carrier with an S class fabricator on it for remote fleet construction. Though coming from X3 the ship sizes are rather tiny. Game is almost completely lacking true heavy ships. Other than the asgard there's no real flagship tier ship. Honestly feels like the top tier are more light cruisers than anything else.

Personally for AI improvement
1. Stop the whole travel drive so far away and slow boat to the target
This is clearly a design decision that I think is universally annoying for the player base lol

This one issue is the whole reason people keep talking about other issue
Like escort ship not escorting, Ship never being able to catch each other and etc

2. No boosting for L&XL ship
Wastes of shield and durability

3. Clean up the Capital ship AI from 6.0
They made quite a bit of changes to the Capital ship AI from fighting station to fighting ships. Now they need to clean it up a bit so stuff like hugging and main gun targeting can be fine tuned

From my experience station suicide is really not all that prominent anymore even with 0 star destroyer pilots, they do have a positioning problem if they are too close to each other though (all good formation is locked at higher level to stop hugging)

They are definitely heading in the right direction for destroyers compared to when they would just die if you tell them to attack without the right star level and attacking from above or below the station

If it really breaks the rule, won't report to customer service easier solution?

Capital ships have a pitch shooting limit of +/-55° and lack significant situational awareness. Unless Egosoft seriously considers improving the pathfinding algorithm or reevaluating how capital ships should engage in combat, the issue won't likely be resolved.
